Title: FYI: This sunday will be 10-10-10
Post by: AV on October 08, 2010, 10:11:09 PM
It's a very rare numerical chance. Will the world end at 10:10am ? Will it a new world start 10:10 PM?

October 10th is my birthday so this is very cool event for me.

NPR recently talked about 10-10-10 :

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=130435541

And this website talks about special aspects of this day too:

I just thought this was a cool topic  :cool; :cool; :cool;

*sigh*.

In some alternate universe, we'd all be playing our 3DS systems on 10-10-10.

Wait until 8000 years from now when it's 10:10:10 on 10/10/1010.
I doubt we'll be using the same calendar system, or even number system then.

Oh, and 8000 years from now the year will be 10010.

Apparently a lot of weddings happened today because they think the date is lucky.

Apparently a lot of weddings happened today because they think the date is lucky.

My friends tried to get married on 7/7/2007 but the date had been booked at all of their preferred locations 'at least a year in advance' by other parties according to the venues. Those dates are always popular.

June 6, 2006 wasn't all that popular.

An interesting fact about October 2010:

This OCT. has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays, all in 1 month. It
happens once in 823 years.

Pft. 10/10/10 came and went. It was nothing compared to 9/9/99. Where is my Dreamcast 2.0?!

I'm pretty sure there was a horror movie released on that day but I see your point.

oh good, I'll just go ahead a forward that back to the friend that sent me that "interesting fact" in the first place.

This is why I love the website Snopes, they actually talking about this a few months ago. Myths like this are often spread by people (like your friend) forwarding "facts" to their friends. It's true that something like this is rare, but not that rare. It happens anytime a month with 31 days (January, March, May, July, August, October, December) begins on a Friday. It happens twice this year, once next year (July), 0 in 2012, once in 2013 (March), etc.
