Title: Nintendo to Announce 3DS Release Date and Price

Launch information for 3DS expected in September.

Japanese news agency Bloomberg has confirmed that Nintendo will reveal price and release date details on September 29 in Japan. This follows a telephone conversation between Bloomberg and Yasushi Hiroshi Minagawa, Nintendo spokesperson. Shipment targets for the fiscal year are expected to be part of the announcement.

The event is due to take place shortly after Tokyo Game Show, scheduled for September 16-19. It is expected that the announcement will be only for the Japanese market.

I also misread the headline, though I didn't register excitement but immediate disbelief.  There's no way this thing could come out in September, even in Japan.  If it comes out before the end of the year in Japan, then it will come out by the end of March in the states.  If it hits next year in Japan, then all bets are off.

This is awesome news. It means they've got the system pretty much in a final state. Well even more than they had at E3, which I would think it would allow them to begin production.
