While on the Jimmy Fallon television show last night, Reggie Fils-Aimes stated that the Nintendo 3DS will not be available in North America this year. Instead it will launch in 2011.
It is unknown if Reggie was just referring to only North America. Judging by how Nintendo has been releasing its handhelds lately, it is likely that a European launch will be close to the North American debut. As for Japan, gamers will have to wait until Nintendo confirms a specific date.
This was pretty obvious before he confirmed it. The DS is selling too well to even think about taking attention away from it this Christmas season.
Editor's note: Previously, this story was posted with the title "Nintendo 3DS is Launching Next Year". Due to the nature of the announcement we have changed the headline until we receive confirmation of the release date from official sources.
