Title: JURY DUTY
Post by: vudu on June 13, 2010, 07:25:16 PM
Dear Diary,

Just found out I have to report for jury duty tomorrow morning.  I swear to god if I have to be back on Tuesday and miss Nintendo's press conference I will burn down the courthouse.

Also, don't tell anyone, but I think Insanolord is a fox--especially in his hat.

Diary, you're my best friend.

Cheers,
vudu

Just a thought, if you TELL them you plan to burn the court down I PROMISE you wont get jury duty.

"Your honor, my religion forbids me from judging people. Only God may judge."

If someone pulls this out, you stand up and say "Your honor, I just converted."

Getting out of jury duty is easy, just answer every question like a crazy person when the lawyers interview you. Don't be afraid to bring up conspiracy theories.

That being said, jury duty is your civic obligation.

"Your Honor,I am critically biased and will likely not weigh things properly."

"I humbly ask that I not be apart of the jury"

The trick is to say you're prejudiced against all races.

I'm ashamed of all of you trying to get out of Jury Duty for a video game press conference.... :(

Well, it is a marvelous hat.

I've never actually had to serve. I once got a letter saying I was selected and had to call a number to see if I would actually serve, but they ended up getting all the jurors they needed and I didn't have to serve. I wanted to though since I didn't have a job and you get paid to be on a jury (not much, but it's still like $50 a day).

I've never been selected, but my mom has been selected many times.

Because Batman deals out justice on the streets.

I thought he served justice in Robin's tights?

The trick is to say you're prejudiced against all races.

That used to be my go-to response but I've since found a better (and more believable one).

Well, your honor--if the officer arrested him than he must be guilty.

Unwavering belief in--and respect for--the police.

I wanted to though since I didn't have a job and you get paid to be on a jury (not much, but it's still like $50 a day).
$50?  It's more like $17 in cook county.

Maybe it's to make up for the fact that New York has some of the highest taxes in the country, especially since New Yorkers now have to pay sales taxes for Internet purchases (which Amazon has been trying to get that law overturned since Governor Paterson signed it a few years ago).

You can do like I do and hate everything and everybody, specifically those things & people that are involved in the case.... with a passion!

i.e I hate rapist, I have a sister and if anyone like that ever came near her I would ...... he's guilty as far as I'm concerned and nothing will change my mind.
or I hate cops, I don't care what the cops says I'm sure he's lying. Blah Blah blah, gang with badges, blah blah blah

I've sat infront of the lawyers twice. Those are the basic arguments I gave while they gave each other weird looks and politely excused me.

Hilariously, I also have jury duty, but it starts on the 27th.

Dress like a Pirate when you go to the courthouse and talk like Al Capone, "Nah, SEE!" Trust me, that one works everytime.

So Mayor Daley called me this morning and begged me not to burn down his daddy's court house.  I said, listen here, yo, I ain't got time to be fooling around with your nonsense judicial system!  He suggested that he could postpone the summons for 3 or 6 months if that would work for me.  I said make it 3, because I'll be getting my Christmas on in Texas.

And that, kids, is how I saved E3.  Next time I'll tell you the story of how the Grinch kidnapped GDC and how I jumped onto a moving school bus and then killed him outside of a rock quarry.

Just don't buy a ticket. Problem Solved.
Can't "win" if you don't "play" ;)

Ha I got sent a jury notice for July 19th. I always seem to get out of it though.

I got the letter once, however I was told quite explicitly that, as a student, I could get out of it for "class."

Yep, totally worth it.

i must be the only person who wants to participate on a jury. My housemate has had jury duty TWICE the bitch and she's only 23. Although the second time she was successfully challenged and didn't get to do it. I guess the lawyer was smart enough to identify her as a small minded bogan.

Sigh I have to do jury duty.
I'll be back whenever I am back.

Nevermind that.
