Title: Forum Feature: Nintendo Stuff Part 2

This isn't intended to be a bragging thread or anything (in spite of the title - that's just a tease) - in fact, the stuff I'm going to "feature" often won't be rare or hard to get - I just wanted to showcase some of the more unusual stuff I've got. Every so often, when I get bored and have some time (could be every day, could be a week between new posts), I'm going to snap some photos and discuss a little bit about what I'm posting. Fell free to talk about what I've posted (and correct anything I've posted that is incorrect), post stuff like "I've got that too" and, for more fun, post pics of some of your more unusual Nintendo-related items.
Today's post will feature the best Captain next to Cap'n Crunch ever - Captain N, The Game Master!
Now, of course, there's the super-awesome TV show that's out on DVD. There's three seasons, the first two seasons being compiled in what's called "The Complete..." while the third is bundled with the Super Mario World animated series.
But here's the fun part - The third disc of the first set was published with an error. Part of one of the episodes ("Queen of the Apes", for those wondering) is missing a couple of minutes of footage. Shout Factory created a corrected disc, but this disc was never shipped in any sets, it was only available through a replacement program. After writing them and telling them what a Captain N Fan I was (and offering to buy a second set just to send in for the replacement disc), Shout Factory was awesome enough to just send me a free copy of the replacement disc, letting me keep my old disc as well. I didn't even have to pay for shipping!
Frankly, it wasn't all that great. But then, neither was the show. ;)
The comic series is a fun romp through Videoland, featuring our Hero, Captain N, Duke, Lana, Kid Icarus (yeah, yeah, his name's Pit) and... Samus! Absent from the series is any third-party characters (No Simon, no Mega Man, etc..)

^ I remember that Fabio ad. I used to see it all the time (I read alot of video game magazines while my mom shopped in the grocery store)
I also remember the Captain N cartoon and how bad it was, but I would watch it whenever I happened to catch it on tv in the morning.

There's also the Best of the Nintendo Comics System (http://www.amazon.com/Best-Nintendo-Comics-System/dp/0792455290), which I own. I don't know if it has any unique stories compared to the comic books, though.

I don't know if I still have it, but I had a issue of that Captain N comic. It was about Kid Icarus (besides the bastardized look of the character, naming him Kid Icarus instead of Pit also annoyed me) and the Princess going down this garbage chute, or something like that.

Plus I guess I can claim to be the only nerd with Nintendo controllers on his arm??

FleX, I'm going to go ahead and assume that you legally obtained your Captain N episodes. That said, it's probably not a good idea to share them with those who haven't.

Round Two will feature some of the neater Zelda stuff I've managed to horde over the last few years.
One of the more common things is this neat-o feather stylus. You got it as a reward from MyNintendo when you registered Phantom Hourglass near the release and completed a little survey. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v180/TheUncleBob/Stylus.jpg)
When you pre-ordered the same game from Walmart.com, you also got a free, bonus skin and stylus set for the DSLite. The package does not have the official Nintendo seal on it, but does feature the Nintendo logo and a Nintendo print number - the stylus, however, is missing a Nintendo race-track logo that official Nintendo styli have on them. A neat piece, none-the-less. On a side note, it took nearly two weeks past the arrival of this game in store for my pre-order to arrive. Let's turn back the dial a little to The Minish Cap. Thanks to the wonderful world of eBay, I managed to score a copy of The Minish Cap demo - a GBA cartridge for retailers that featured a very small amount of game play. The label on this cartridge features "DEMO" and "NOT FOR RESALE" - the style of which I simulated and added to one of the custom covers over at thecoverproject.net to create a one-of-a-kind case for my demo cart. Going back a little more brings up one of my favorite pieces of my collection, my gold Game Boy Camera. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v180/TheUncleBob/GBCZelda.jpg)
This bugger was sold directly through Nintendo Power back in the day - and is rather hard to get. Mine has some wear-and-tear on it, but considering it's history, I'm not surprised. A very lucky fellow on CAG ran across it used at an EBGames. Funny thing, it was in the system as a regular ol' Game Boy Camera - I assume they didn't have any other SKU for the special edition. He bought it... for $2.99. I paid him a little more for it, but still got a great deal.
What makes this camera different than the rest? Nothing, really. It's painted gold, obviously. Aside from that, three of the B-Album pictures (pretty useless ones) were replaced with special Zelda artwork from Ocarina of Time. Neat trick - you can transfer the special pictures to a regular Game Boy Camera with a link cable. They won't be in the B-Album and can be deleted and such, but, this way, you could have them.

Finally, somewhat way back is this replica Game and Watch keychain featuring Zelda. It's a small bugger. The battery is dead, so I've included some quick gameplay from the Game and Watch Gallery 4 collection from the GBA so you can get an idea of how it works. Sweet! Please do! I've always wanted one of those... I just have trouble biting with the price they command and the quality of the TV... I love the black controllers they came with.
