Title: Nintendo Patents 3D DSi Add-On
Post by: King of Twitch on April 19, 2010, 03:05:27 PM
3D gaming arrives... a little  early

Hot on the heels of the DSi XL launch,  a Nintendo patent has been unearthed for a new DSi stylus that can be  connected directly to the brain, giving players a totally 3D gaming  experience. No glasses or advanced screen technology are needed.

The special stylus, the GAMEBOTOMY©,  is designed to resemble a household ice pick to provide familiarity  to new gamers, and can create a unique level of connectivity never  seen before.

The GAMEBOTOMY©  will detect full body motions (if any are still possible), allowing  for 1:1 control inside the player's brain. The patent provides a  rough sketch of the types of games it can induce:

Game News Network briefly contacted  Cammie Dunaway, vice president of sales and marketing, for comment on  this amazing milestone:

GNN: What is this crazy new DSi  stylus all about? Isn't it going to steal a bit of the 3DS's thunder?

Dunaway
: I've tried... the  Gamebotomy myself... it's so...

GNN: Advanced?

Dunaway: ..........No.

GNN: Realistic??

Dunaway: ..........No. That's not it.

Clearly, the GAMEBOTOMY© provides a  profound gaming experience that can leave even the most unflappable  PR rep breathless. Shigeru Miyamoto, lead designer for several  upcoming GB-compatible DSi games, was equally enigmatic in regards to  upcoming software:

"This is a perfect opportunity to  take an early stab at 3D development and gouge out untapped parts of  the market [laughter] that have yet to be wowed. It's like I said  before: what if, while playing DSi on a crowded street, you look up  and see a doorway to another place? If you choose to go inside you  may find many unexpected things, or maybe it will open all on its  own, and three Pikmin will fall out. [raises hands] AUUGhhhh! [falls  down] Have you seen my three Pikmin? Pikmin Threeee???! [laughter]"

Virtual Boy fans rejoice: Nintendo has  confirmed that unlike the headache-inducing headset of the past, even  the most crazed technology apologist will not notice any  GAMEBOTOMY©-related side effects when it arrives on store shelves  this fall.

I was confused as to which section of the forum I was in for a second.

This was clearly a Funhouse thread, but I could have sworn I was in the DS section.
