It has been an exciting week for Nintendo fans, with release dates and new details for Mario, Metroid, and many other games. Thankfully, Jon is back to help us process it all. He also dishes out impressions of Disaster: Day of Crisis, has an early look at Mega Man 10, and some final thoughts on Super Mario RPG. But wait, there's more! Jonny talks up No More Heroes 2 (with Classic Controller), Greg has guarded praise for Muramasa, and James wraps up Miles Edgeworth in this dense New Business segment.
After the break, we announce the winner of the Game of the Decade poll and briefly discuss those results. Thanks once again to everyone who voted, nominated, and organized this lengthy but fascinating process! Then we finally catch up on a portion of your Listener Mail. It starts with a couple of gushing letters that were so kind and eloquent that we had to read them on the air; one also leads to some thoughts on our plans (or lack thereof) to be professionally involved in gaming. Next is a more substantive discussion of Metroid Fusion, with detailed criticisms but also some praise and appreciation for the game that revived 2D Metroid after nearly a decade of dormancy. Finally, a counterpoint to all the congratulations -- one reader expresses great disappointment in our recent elevation of Majora's Mask over Wind Waker, and we respond as best we can.

I agree with most of what you said - I remember the head-bustingly stupid coconut collecting mini-game from the first version all too well. I have to disagree with the notion that buying new weapons is useless, though. I spent some time gathering the cash for the third beam katana, and it's leaps and bounds better than the default sword (though, as you said, it's so easy that it doesn't necessarily matter).

What I found hilarious about the first combat part was that there was an entire SWAT team with automatic weapons and body armor sent in that was losing against the ex-special-forces terrorists so your rescue worker dude grabs his pistol and goes in to "show them how it's done". Okay, he's also ex-spec-ops but that's still hilarious how he runs in with his tiny pistol.
As for Fusion, I had more issues with being restricted in where I can go and how I HAD to talk to the computer at the beginning and end of every sector before it would unlock the doors. I agree that they should have done more with the Metroid blood aspect, those morphing enemies were just a pain and it just felt unsatisfying to shoot enemies just to have them pixelate and turn into blobs you have to catch.

I forgot how incredible Zero Mission is, and I kind of regret playing it first, since I remember Fusion not being quite as good.

The more I learn about how the podcast or rather this site in general is put together the more I fall in love with it. The fact that this site is ran off of pure dedication to good journalism, factual information, unbiased criticism, and a true love and respect of all aspects of gaming makes me proud of just being able to be apart of it and the experience I get out of it.
I relate the ability to have an openly opinionated forum like this, that you all provide, to the same reason I serve my country. So we all may have our own opinions.
I'm sure you get plenty of praise from all of my fellow Nintendites that enjoy all the things that NWR brings to us but I do want to take this time to truly thank the entire NWR Staff and the intelligent fans that make this, in my opinion, the best online gaming community out there......PERIOD

Personally, I'm still annoyed that they took away the slide move from Mega Man in 9 and 10. I don't really miss the charge shot so much.
A few episodes ago, someone (Greg, I think) drew a humorous comparison between Mega Man and Sylar from Heroes. That still makes me laugh. Perhaps that's how Dr. Light convinces Mega Man to attack his fellow robots and cannibalize their powers; Mega Man's motivation is to be "special." I'll never look at Mega Man the same way again.
