Title: Nintendo Releases Lifetime Sales Data

Their 2009 financial report gives cold hard data on their market domination.

 Nintendo has revealed their sales data for the period from April 2009 through December 2009, including lifetime sales of many of their products.    

The Nintendo Wii console has sold 67.45 million units worldwide since its 2006 launch.  17.05 million sales occurred between April and December 2009, with 1.76 million in sales coming from Japan, 8.48 million in sales coming from America, and 6.81 in sales coming from other territories.  Nintendo has projected that they will sell 20 million Wii systems in the fiscal year from April 2009 through March 2010.      

The Nintendo DS system, which includes the DS Lite, the DSi and the DSi LL, has sold 125.13 million units worldwide since its 2004 launch.  23.35 million sales occurred between April and December 2009, with 3.52 million sales coming from Japan, 10.53 million in sales coming from America, and 9.30 million in sales coming from other territories.  Nintendo has projected that they will sell 30 million Nintendo DS systems in the fiscal year from April 2009 through March 2010.    

Nintendo also released global lifetime sales information on select titles.  

 
• Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver have sold 3.78 million, 3.74 of which came from Japan
 
• New Super Mario Bros. DS has sold 21.39 million since launch, 2.93 of which came in the 2009 fiscal year.
 
• Mario Kart DS has sold 17.28 million since launch, 2.66 of which came in the 2009 fiscal year.
 
• The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks has sold 2.45 million since launch
 
• Professor Layton and the Curious Village has sold 3.04 million since launch, however that number does not include sales in Japan, where the game is not published by Nintendo.  The game sold 1.39 million in the 2009 fiscal year.
 
• New Super Mario Bros Wii has sold 10.55 million since launch.
 
• Wii Sports has sold 60.69 million, however this number includes copies bundled with the Wii systems outside of Japan.  The title sold 14.98 million in the 2009 fiscal year.
 
• Wii Sports Resort has sold 13.58 million since launch.
 
• Wii Fit Plus has sold 10.16 million since launch.
 
• Mario Kart Wii has sold 21.22 million since launch, 5.82 million of which came during the 2009 fiscal year.
