Title: Playing Itunes Podcasts on the DSi
Post by: Kytim89 on January 28, 2010, 10:51:15 PM
A few months ago I found a quick way to play podcasts downloaded from itunes on the DSi music player. You simply convert them over to the AAC format and transfer them over to the SD card.

I think that Radio Free Nintendo offers an actual AAC feed so you could just bypass the entire conversion process.
Though I hadn't thought about playing them from my DSi. I'll give it a try since my iPod has been on the fritz lately.

We should try and bring this to their attention so that they can mention it on the show in the near future.

Apple and Nintendo are almost direct competitors these days so I doubt those idiots will put it on the Nintendo Wekk- oh you mean NWR, yeah you could but that would assume people listened to teh podcast :)

I thought itunes were already in AAC format? I've never had to covert them when wanting to play them on the DS.

You can choose which format you want to use for a lot of things. I rip my CDs to MP3 and D/L my 'casts in MP3 but I think if you D/L actual songs that they use the AAC format.

Songs downloaded from iTunes are AAC, whether podcasts from iTunes are MP3 or AAC depends on the particular podcast.

If you convert the podcasts into AAC format you will be able to listen to them on the DSi. I recommend you all try it out. This is how I listen to RFN.

Can you listen to mp3's on your DSi while playing games?

No, the pdcast plays as if it is a music file on the DSi. The only problem is battery life. If you listen to RFN for nearly two hours you will have to recharge the battery to power the DSi.

Just like with the ladies, I'm so sexy I just wear out the DSi.
