Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 will hit stores this summer for Wii and other systems.

EA Sports announced Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 for Wii, confirming that they will be sticking with the famous golfer who has  recently come under scrutiny and is on an indefinite leave from the sport of golf.

"We stand by Tiger as an athlete – AP's greatest athlete of the decade," said Peter Moore, president of EA Sports, in an interview with CNBC. "We've looked actually at the overall franchise for calendar year 2008 and 2009 and are slightly up when we look at all platforms for the Tiger franchise. Despite what has gone on in his personal life, we've seen no negative  impact on sales."

The announcement of the follow-up to last year's well-received Wii MotionPlus golfing game was nestled in a press release about the release of the beta for Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 is coming to Wii, as well as Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and iPhone, this summer.

I'm hoping that TW11 comes out too soon to take advantage of Natal and Disco Wand.

Motion Plus + Balance Board golf trainer exclusive to the Wii version.

Since his personal life went public I've been exclusively buying the tiger woods variety of Gatorade to show my support for  casual sex. Hell, I didn't even drink sports water before.

No problem there, neither the PS3 wand nor Project Natal will come out before Fall 2010 at the earliest while this game will come out in June. I suppose they could re-release the game, but they would probably just wait until next year to add support.

Whether it's right or not, people don't seem to care so much about what he's done, so I don't think that will affect sales of these games. You have to take the bad with the good, I s'pose.

i wonder if it would sell any less if the game was called " EA Sports Presents PGA Tour 2011"

If it debuted with that name when the series first launched, then it probably would have, but at this point EA Sports is established as a quality sports game brand, so it'd likely be fine.

I could see them dropping the name eventually, especially since their upcoming MMA game is going to have the incredibly generic name EA Sports MMA.

Actually, the series was originally just named PGA Tour, or at least EA released games on the Genesis with that title prior to Tiger Woods' rise to fame.

Why would I buy a yearly sequel to a golf game?

It isn't like players have stat updates like the football games.  I don't think they made any new golf courses in the last year they need to put on this game.

Balance Board support.

Golf Swing Trainer like on WiiFit Plus only using the precision of M+.

Would M+ & BB really allow you to perfectly simulate a golf swing? That would totally sell me on the game. My Dad would love that since he used to be an avid golfer. I've been meaning to get last years Tiger game but I may wait for this one if BB support is confirmed.

Does BB support do much except punish you for a wrong stance? Doesn't the M+ already do that enough since your swing would be wrong too?

EA should use their Tiger Woods license to create a line of "cheat on your wife" games with M+ AND BALANCE BOARD SUPPORT!!!!!1111

Have you played WiiFit Plus?
It helps to make sure you shift your weight properly during your swing so that you get the most out of your swing. I figure it would obviously be optional during gameplay, but would be great for a side game like Swing Trainer where you could see how shifting your weight made the ball go further will less effort or made the ball hook/slice during your swing.

Anything they could do with the balance board and M+ support to help your real golf game out on the actual green is another bullet point for the Wii version and a reason for casuals to buy not only the game, but the system to play it on. The ultimate at home Golf Simulator.

edit: Check this out

P3ProSwing Golf Simulator and Golf Swing Analyzer Claret Model - $1299 (http://www.golfsmith.com/products/241156/?lcode=CI&cm_mmc=Shopping+Engines-_-GoogleBase-_-xx-_-xx&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=241156&tcode=fr_home)

vs a Wii + WiiFitPlus + Tiger Woods 11 w/MPlus - $360

The only issue I see with the Balance Board is that it wouldn't be wide enough for some taller players to stand. I would prefer the BB to be 6" wider and 3" taller.
