And to think, I used to regard Toshiba so highly. :P
What's weird about this is Toshiba was the creator of HD-DVD. We all know they lost out to Sony in that recent format war, but why are the kissing Sony's ass in something completely unrelated?

They didn't really "loose" per say. The big names, like Disney, simply wanted more restrictions place on the use of their films. Blu-Ray offered this whereas HD-DVD did not. It's not surprising really, as Sony is the one with the film division. I usually don't care much for conflicts of interest, and Blu-Ray is no exception. Luckily I don't have to worry about it, as it will die off in a few years, just like Betamax and UMD did. :P

Has UMD really died out? I know it performed terribly, and I haven't really heard anything more about it but that doesn't necessarily mean stuff still isn't being released for it. If nothing else, it does live on as the format for the PSP games, and will likely remain that way considering PSP GO has come to a screeching halt.

Well, so much for mature games on the LG.

You know what I'd like to see in a TV? that motion controller is great and all, but sometimes I just want to type the channel and go. Combine wiimote with regular controller and you got yourself a winner.
But what I really want to see built into the TV is a HD DVR tuner with TV Guide. A TV that's ready to go with no monthly fees for a cable box, DVR & TVG service. That is the convergence I am looking for.

The video I saw on Kotaku made it seem like there might be two remotes for the TV--one motion controller and one traditional controller.

It allows for dual-wielding couch action.

Does this mean we can play along when we watch sports?

God. Both of those TVs make me droll.
I've always envisioned a TV that worked like a Wii. I wish the LG had more processing power so I could see the channel thumbnails play out live.
The Cell TV sounds exactly like where I figured the TV scene was going....basically giant Iphones stuck to a wall. This probably means that someone will probably hack it, which is fucking awesome. But finally, FINALLY I could do this....
