Nintendo has sold over six million Wii consoles in the U.K. in just under three years, according to GfK Chart-Track.   This makes the Wii the fastest-selling video game system in U.K. history.

The system, which launched on December 8, 2006 in the U.K., has recently seen a sales spike due to a price cut and the availability of a black color scheme.  General Manager of Nintendo U.K. David Yarnton commented, "With its inclusive, family friendly and fun nature, we're very pleased Wii seems to have captured the imagination of over six million families across the U.K. and reached such a landmark sales figure in such a short space of time.  We'll work even harder to ensure that the interest in Wii stretches over months and years, appealing to people of all ages and gaming experiences."

According to financial information Nintendo released in late September 2009, the Wii has sold almost 26 million consoles in the Americas, 8.6 million consoles in Japan, and 21.4 million consoles in other territories, including the U.K.

Not until we kidnap them from the other countries and put them on ships them to America.
Then we can all have a Black Wii of our own to serve our gaming needs.

So the same wii has been bought, refunded and re-sold 6 MILLION times. Record breaking indeed.
