Post by: dmbfan755 on April 21, 2003, 09:14:30 AM
Is this game supposed to be like GTA or something like that? Or is it gonna be another first person shooter?

More like GTA, but much better hopefully.
Think GTA+LA rebuilt+better graphics+bullet time fighting+several fighting styles to learn (Kung Fu, Karate etc) etc

Yeah GTA was way overrated. My brother has both for PS2, I played the GTA3 and it was a really cool game...for about 2 days. I just got tired of it and haven't picked it up since. I bought Vice City for my brother's birthday. He played it for about a week, and far as I know its been gathering dust. After the shock value wears off, there just isn't much about GTA to keep you coming back for more. I hope True Crime: Streets of LA has that 'pull' that GTA just didn't have for me over the long term. You only can run over so many pedestrains, kill so many prostitutes, and car jack so many police cars before you get tired of it. Wow, I feel deprieved just for writing that last sentence.

I heard they are replicating 25 miles of the actual city of L.A. , so it should be huge. Combine that with the voice actors, and this has to be good.

Quote Activision's answer to Grand Theft Auto III is coming to the GameCube.
That is a quote from Gamespot. Although the game is not exclusive, it still looks great and we 'cube owners can get a taste of more mature title.

Well, I actually liked GTA3. Note I wrote liked not loved. It was a good game but not my favorite. As for Vice City...ugh, I just can't get past all that 80's crap. And Rockstar's reach exceeded their grasp, as evidenced by the glitches in the games and the problems with graphics not keepng up with the game. Anyway, as for True Crime, well, if it's as good as Activision is saying it'll be light years beyond any GTA game period. But that's probably being too optimistic. Still, even if it only delivers on half of what's been promised it'll probably still be better than GTA. Branching missions, the combat that's already been alluded to, and incredible graphics sound really cool. I am a bit worried that, like I said with Rockstar, Luxoflux's reach may exceed their grasp and they may create an engine that, again like GTA, pushes the systems too far and results in the same stuff you see in GTA (walking on water, being able to see the stick dimensions of buildings occasionaly before the rest of the building appears, pop up, being shot through walls, etc.) However, they have been working on this game for at least a few years so hopefully that won't be the case.

I think this games gonna rock, why shouldnt it. It has very nice graphics, seems to have lots of depth, huge world, authentic(not necessarily realistic). It might actually kick GTA ass, it just seems so much better, and Im not saying this because im a fanboy. Im really glad Starcraft Ghost and True Crime are going multi.
