Circle of the Moon looks better than this.

Haven't played Circle of the Moon.Haven't played many Castlevania games but I am willing to give this a try.

This is trolling.

Depends. How much animation frames did the main character have in each game.

Circle barely beats NES Kung Fu by about 1 frame for each action.  Kung Fu was pretty advanced for its time, and I bet Konami thought they were pretty advanced for GBA's time. (when in reality they just had deep-fried walnuts for eyes).

There's also something inherently wrong in making judgements based on YouTube Flash video that was made from Nintendo Channel Flash video.  Despite that, that Rebirth clip is more animated than Circle.

Circle is more analogous to Game & Watch, with scrolling backgrounds and a higher framerate; the backgrounds benefited from the framerate, Nathan the protaganist didn't.

But is it supposed to look better than Circle?

Remember most of these 'rebirth'/'revival' games are meant to look retro.

It already looks better than Circle.  Rebirth has a GBA-CV quality take to its sprites and backgrounds compared to the crystalline/stoney appearance of the titles from Super Castlevania to Symphony.  But Rebirth is definitely a 16-bit throwback, and it successfully looks visible despite having dark backgrounds.

Circle's visuals simply did not measure up to the 16-bit titles.

Despite the shortage of animations in the character sprites, Circle looks wonderful. The sprites themselves were very detailed, and the backgrounds were wonderful. It was too dark, sure, but when you get that sucker up on the Game Boy Player it looks absolutely gorgeous.

Can we agree that this game looks significantly worse than an SNES or DS Castlevania game? One of my friends suggested that it looked a bit like a Genesis title. I agree with that.

Absolutely not.

GB Player only emphasized Circle's flaws.  Detailed sprites, were not.  Detailed sprites can jump off a cliff if the animation is lacking.

I don't remember the animation in Circle being that bad. I need to check some video methinks.

Or I could just fire up the game on my Lite.

I'll agree to that. It's a damn shame I really like the look of Castlevania IV and this should emulate that. Even for a Wiiware game it could look allot better.  Maybe it's early

Oh, I'm totally getting it no matter what it looks like. Old-school Castlevania game? I'm a goddamn Castlevania addict, so it's gonna be a no-brainer. I just wish it looked a little better and emulated the environments of the original Castlevania Adventure more.

For the curious, the levels were: The Forest, The Underground, the Dungeon, and The Castle. I wonder if this new game will bring back the forced-scrolling hellscape of The Dungeon.

The original Castlevania Adventure was ****.  The less this new game resembles it the better.

Konammy should just give it good controls and be done with it.

It could be worse. IGA could make it another Metroidvania with really bad voice acting.

Oh wow, found the thread.  Shouldn't have been poasting in the VC Monday thread after all.

The game is RAD.
