iPhone/iPod Touch is a great game platform, not as good as a DS but much better than a PSP.
Playing with no buttons= not better then PSP/DS
As much as I like my iPhone I HATE playing games on it that require movement, it needs face buttons, or at the very least an attachable shell with buttons.
