Title: Rock Band VS. Guitar Hero

So what do you prefer?
I think Rock Band is a lot better. It just an overall better package with such a big library of songs. I prefer the gameplay also because it doesn't make you want to through your guitar at the TV. It's just plain fun.

I agree. With Rock Band, you can rip songs from the first one to Rock Band 2. And I Get By by HB&tFTDI on Drums on Hard is one of the best songs ever.

All I've ever played is Guitar Hero III, which was pretty annoying. They're not my type of game.

You should try Rock Band. GH is more about the challenge where RB is the pick up and play fun.

If they make a "Mario" version of Rock Band then maybe I'll check it out. Otherwise there isn't going to be any music in it which I actually like.

I like Rock Band's more forgiving style of play, but I love the Guitar Hero's circle buttons instead of bars. They are easier to see and time the notes with.
I also like Guitar Hero 4's instruments much, much better than Rock Bands.

I feel that Guitar Hero is better. It simply feels harder than Rock Band and proves a greater challenge.

Rock Band is better. It's not an opinion. The rectangle notes took a *little* while to get used to, but the gameplay is better, the note charts aren't just a bunch of h-o-p-o's put together, and the graphics are leaps and bounds better (not that it really matters). Also, Rock Band is made by the real Guitar Hero team, and Guitar Hero is made by THPS developers. I'll admit GH3 has a pretty killer track list, but, GH Metallica aside, everything else since then has sucked.

This is the only real option, IMO. They both have their pros and cons, and i don't see one as better than the other; just different.

I perfer Guitar Hero's looser gameplay feel to Rock Band's, so I give it the slight edge (plus, I overall liked WT's Setlist over RB2's and GH5's setlist looks to be the best yet). Not to say Rock Band isn't a great game.

I own both and have given each much playtime, but I'll have to vote for Rock Band here. Being able to save your bandmates in multiplayer pushes it over the top and makes for some of the funnest, most satisfying gaming experiences I've had with friends/family, regardles of skill level.

I'm with Spinnzilla on preferring Guitar Heroe's gameplay. Also I like their controllers and interface better. But Rock Band is a better game. I like the 'story mode' better and the DLC is more frequent and more appealing to me. Also the character creation feels funner.But I like and own both. So long as any new RB game on Wii allows you to import the old songs and use GH controllers I will buy and enjoy both games.
Plus GH was the first to have Within Temptation so they won a lot of points there.
Going back to the character creation for a minute, it is funny who they are different and how I prefer them. The GH character looks more like me, but the RB one is preferred. It's almost like how I prefer the Miis to the Avatars on 360. Avatars are too much like you and feel odd, disturbing and cheesy (along with the silly 'Mii Too!' aspect). But Miis have this quirky charm because they look less like you. It's hard to explain fully, but maybe someone can help me describe it who understands what I mean?
Can you change the poll to have the options for both. You should also throw in a Wii Music option since it was requested and I know a few people here did enjoy it.

Rock Band and Guitar Hero might not be all of music gaming, but they are the two biggest and the most similar. They are big communal gaming affairs with a laundry list of licensed rock music and weekly downloadable content.
kraken's initial post wasn't "WHICH IS TEH BIGGEST n BEST MUSIC GAME EVAR?!?" It was "which do you prefer from these two?" because these two are directly comparable. If you don't like RB or GH, then abstain from voting. If you prefer another music game, go talk about it elsewhere.
