How do you duplicate items on Phantasy Star Online for the Nintendo Game Cube?

it was only a glitch in Version 1 on Dreamcast.  it's been fixed.  i.e.  you can't.

is there a way to hold more than 10 of a certain item such as monomate?

no.  only if some are in the bank.
