Title: Where the Hell is Killer Instinct 3?
Post by: BranDonk Kong on June 04, 2009, 07:58:34 PM
Back in February Rare said they'd be announcing 2 games at E3, and one would be based on a popular fighting franchise...where the hell are their announcements? I don't know if they knew about the demise of Midway back then...but maybe they'll buy up Mortal Kombat and make KI vs MK? Wishful thinking.

I'm trying to remember where I saw it, but I did see it.

But as far as why  there is no Rare activity at E3

No Banjo Kazooie at E3? No Viva Pinata? Blame Project Natal.

We've been looking for Rare at E3. Microsoft's Shane Kim, corporate v. p. at Microsoft for Xbox 360 strategy and business development, didn't exactly tell us where they are, but he did tell us what they're up to.

"Rare is intimately involved with Project Natal in a number of different dimensions," Kim said, referring to Microsoft's controller-free game control set-up that's been the buzz of E3. "They're doing an awful lot of work, even outside the traditional game space, I would say. Unfortunately I can't go into a lot of detail about that. Rare is alive and well and really having a broader impact on the entire Xbox world than just doing the games they traditionally have in the past."

Rare's most recent publicly shown projects were last year's Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts and Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise. Rare also created the Avatar system launched last last year across all Xbox 360s

Quote from: Venture Beat interview with Shane Kim
VB: Can you think about postponing the next-generation console launch if you introduce something big in mid-cycle like Project Natal?

SK: We firmly believe that the Xbox 360 has a life cycle through 2015 (10 years after the launch). Project Natal is a great innovation. It will work with every Xbox 360 sold. It’s not about pushing more pixels on the screen. It’s about how to break down barriers that stop people from playing games.

lols more Reggie-speak from 2006.

If it's supposed to be tool to break down barriers that stop people from playing games, show some actual games, not awkward MS Paint variants.

Edit - after actually reading the article, it may not be about Rare after all. Oh well. Still it's just wishful thinking. At least they're still considering KI on XBLA.

I can still skat the original Killer Instinct beat.

Anyway, KI is probably my favorite fighter of all time mainly because each character is the **** in their own way. Jago, Fulgure, Glacier....their all just really really cool.

The only character you got right is Jago. It is Fulgore and Glacius.

I personally like Fulgore,TJ Combo, and B.Orchid.

It's been a minute.

And Orchid was really cool too. I liked how she turned into a jag.

For the longest time (before i had teh internets) i didn't believe my cousins who told me she had a finisher that had her flashing her opponents. Even without her assets, she was a killer figther. Between her and Jago, i had some pretty sweet combo's.
