Title: Need For Speed Nitro
Post by: BlackNMild2k1 on May 21, 2009, 02:32:57 AM
or BurnOut meets De Blob.

This is about as close to BurnOut as we are gonna get it seems, and about as creative as NFS has appeared in a long time. Glad to see EA putting in the effort, until it came to including online support... [there is no online racing]

Nitrolicious. If it has a crash mode like burnout I will buy it.

Every time a company releases a trailer with no gameplay footage at all, I die a little inside.

There is some off screen gameplay about a minute fifteen into this vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_ZzWL7wOg0

Neat, it DOES look like Burnout. I hope there are sweet crashes, but I won't get my hopes up.

if it feels like burnout, I'm in.

i'm sorry, until we get a NFS with online, i am not getting one. i have underground and it is agreat looking game. but the most recent one that came out? undercover or whatever?
every.single.version(yes uncluding the DS).had.online. except the wii.
and you can't say EA doesn't know how. Heroes 2 has 32 (!!) player online.
so nitro is a neat looking game, i am glad they are focusing on the Wii. but i still feel as if we are being half-assed

I agree with you jake, hell all EA games uses EA Nation, so they have that infrastructure on Wii so I don't understand why they aren't using it.

That detail [or lack of] did not initially strike me. And I completely agree.

Looks ok.What are the controller options?

Nothing concrete on controler options yet, but everything under the sun(Wiimote/nunchuck, wheel, GC pad & CC) is expected.
But based on that video, this isn't exactly the "burnout" that I was hoping for. I don't like the fact that the cars just bounce off each other with 0 damage. I want BIG crashes to motivate for better driving and strategic pile ups. What I saw in the video just looked like a constant time attack mode, so I hope there is more than just that to the game.

I liked the old street race style free roaming/ sandbox games.
Something just rubs me wrong about this game. I can't put my finger on it. Maybe how colorful it is? I'm not sure.

No crashing? Deal's off.

That might be what I don't like about this game so far. The race looks too clean. Maybe the crashes will come later, but they need to be there.

This was pretty fun at E3. I didn't expect much because I don't typically like Need For Speed games, but this was reminiscent of Hot Pursuit 2 which was the only one I did like.

I still don't understand the point of the Need for Speed franchise when EA bought Criterion. Even moreso now that Burnout Paradise has a "Cops & Robbers" DLC pack.

Same here. I thought maybe there could have been a bit more variety in the tracks, but otherwise it was great.

Oh I should have specified I was talking about the PS2 version. That game was fantastic, the GC and Xbox versions were meh, and bad in comparison to the PS2 version.
