Title: The Grudge Coming to Wii in Japan

Horror movie series known as "Ju-On" in Japan is set to frighten Wii owners.

 AQ Interactive has announced that it is creating Kyoufu Taikan Ju-On (Feel Fear: Ju-On) for Wii.  The Ju-On movies are known to Western audiences as "The Grudge".  Takashi Shimizu, creator of the original Ju-On films, has been retained as an adviser and director for the game, which will explore the origins of the "curse" in the films.    

Kyoufu Taikan Ju-On will be played from a first-person perspective, with the player walking through eerie buildings armed with only a flashlight (holding the Wii Remote as they would a real flashlight).  The game is intended to be very easily controlled, with a focus on instilling fear in the player.  Famitsu has posted screenshots of what is sure to be a creepy title.    

Ju-On is scheduled for a Summer 2009 release in Japan.  A stateside release has not been confirmed.

Fatal Frame 4 proved that Japanese horror games don't sell in North America.

The real question is WHY NOW ? It's 2009 those movies released years ago. Especially Japan its like 2003 when first one came out. Does anyone really care anymore ??
I thought it wore out its welcome already and people moved on.

I don't think it's a direct movie tie-in, the point is more to have a horror game in the same style and people who liked that style can buy this one.

I started a thread on this in the console discussion (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=27860.0). This game is based on the '99 movie and there are 2 more movies coming out in June for the Ju On series:
Ju On: White Granny
Ju On: Black Girl

There is a link to pics for the game and the movies in that other thread. This game is not based on the new movies in any way.
