Title: Something Has Been Bothering Me Lately..

And its how almost every one of Stogi's posts has EPLICATIVE (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/explicative) in it. No, its not what he's refering to in his posts that bother me its the word EXPLICATIVE (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/explicative) itself. Its getting annoying because i keep thinking to myself
"shouldn't he be using EXPLETIVE (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/expletive)"
I'm not a grammer nazi or anything like that cuz i know my grammer isn't exactly perfect, but this one case in particular just bugs the hell outta me.
Am I the only one?

I use it in a non-profane manner though.
I'm trying to say that this specific word is self explanatory. Sure it's a little convoluted...
BTW, you spelled expletive wrong.

I know you're not using it in a non-profane manner however the reason you're using it is because the subject matter at hand is usually profane (in Mods eyes, not yours or mine) which is why i feel 'expletive' is a better fit. Maybe thats just me though.

I see where your coming from. I just would just rather say "I was with a buddy and we lit up a *self explanatory*" Instead of saying "I was with a buddy and we lit up a *profane*"

The way Stogi uses it, expletive would technically be more correct if for no other reason than that it's a noun, but since he's merely avoiding a banned subject instead of censoring cursing, it still wouldn't really be correct usage. I just view it as some kind of euphemism. It doesn't bother me.

I'm the same way, but it seems i'm slipping back into old (bad) habits. Everytime i read his post containing that word, i replaced it with "expletive" anyway, but after awhile i kept noticing it and it irked me to the point i just had to get it out. Like a man, instead of talking to Strogi one on one, i had to:
a. call him out on it b. make a scene c. start a fight d. get my ass kicked
