Title: Hulu.com and other TV on PC sites?
Post by: UncleBob on April 03, 2009, 09:37:44 PM
Hulu.com is a nice site - legal and good quality, with a decent selection.  Now that I have a PC that doesn't use punch cards to save data (seriously, the one I was using before had 256 MB of RAM), I can actually view these sites.  With the HDMI port, there's some really nice looking video sites out there.

What do y'all use (keep it legal and legit please, I don't want to get this thread locked).

I've seen ninjavideo but didn't trust to install the proprietary player, is it spyware free? is it worth it?

I recently went to SouthPark studios but now they don't play recent episodes until weeks later

and I know a few parents that would love that justinTV site for the 24/7 nickelodeon cartoons alone

Ninjavideo stopped making the player something you have to install and instead it's just a pop up that you have to keep open.

Hulu is crap. WAY too much buffering, basically makes everything unwatchable.

Kashogi, what makes it technically legal? If it is airing copyrighted videos without permission, then it is not legal (I am not complaining, just saying).

Not sure. It just has yet to be taken down by the FBI and it's been up for two years. It must know of some loophole.

I would just attribute that to luck. There is a lot of illegal stuff online that doesn't get taken down. It's also possible that their servers are not in the US, so the FBI couldn't do anything. For example, the FBI can't touch The Pirate Bay since their servers are based in Sweden.

Hulu sucks if your trying to watch anything other than 480i.

No, Hulu sucks if you have a slow internet connection and a weak computer. Also, there's no 480i on Hulu, it's 360p, 480p, or 720p. I take it back - it's your computer/connection that sucks, Hulu always kicks ass, plain and simple. It has been my saving grace when my DVR decided to **** on me, on several occasions. If you're getting choppy video, pause it for a few minutes and let the buffer fill all the way up.

I've been watching alot of hulu over the last couple of days (Chuck s2) and the video has just gotten choppy as hell. It sometimes puses the video for a second or two while the audio keeps going and then chops its way back to caught up. Its is very annoying and making these last 7-8 episodes of Chuck much less pleasurable than the previous ones I watched.

I wish Netflix had this on their watch it now service instead, like Heroes & Lost.

p.s. UncleBob and whoever is interested, I have 4 codes for 1 free month of Netflix so you can check out their streaming service.
just let me know.

p.s.s. No Pale, I do not get anything out of it, just trying to pass on something for free. Hookin up the community when I can.

http://crackle.com/
It's owned by Sony so they got PLENTY OF STUFF on it.

is new, and trying to go after Hulu people.

it's odd. Married with Children is on the site with full episodes but they don't have the song from the show at the start but something else. Very odd

Youtube recently got FULL LENGTH MOVIES and TV Shows.

my friend and I watched "Hercules Goes to New York" last week. With a young arnold schwarzenegger.

 We were drinking.
It's a terrible movie, but being able to watch it legally and quickly was nice.

IP Address lookup - blocks of addresses map to countries and then ISPs within that country, so its a fairly quick approximation but works in most cases.
