Title: The Daily Show
Post by: Stogi on March 13, 2009, 03:12:51 PM
I don't know if you guys watched it last night, but that was one of the best performances by Jon Stewart since election coverage.
It's sad that it had to fall onto Jon's lap, of all people, to ask the tough questions and to call people out when no one else will. Still, as goofy and sometimes downright idiotic as Stewart can be, he has a few traits that Socrates himself would admire.
If you guys don't know what I'm talking about, you can go here to find out:

That was really awesome. And it IS sad that Jon has to do the grilling when actual news channels (like CNBC?) should be doing that. I think Jon was kind of taking his frustration out on Jim Cramer, though. I'm not saying that Cramer isn't to blame for part of this, but it's clear that when Jon was looking at Jim, he saw a big "CNBC" logo. :-)
But it was a great interview, no doubt. Brought to mind his interview awhile back with Tony Blair.

I agree with you on the logo thing.
Oh I forgot to mention.
The actual interview lasted 8 minutes longer. To see the full version, just go to their homepage.

Since Stewart is a comedian, I have a hard time taking him seriously.

Really?
He sounded very sobering. His use of expletives only built upon the ever increasing tension.

I watched this last night. I felt bad for Cramer. Poor guy got his ass kicked.

As someone told me....
Jim Cramer got Crossfired
This is probably the 10th time in the last 12months this has been mentioned somewhere, but why does it always come down to a satirical news parody show on comedy central to have to sit down with these "important" figure heads and have to ask all the deep hard hitting questions that call all of these people out on their bullshit!? it is really really sad.
NBC, FOX, CBS, FoxNews, MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, News Corp & the AP should all have the cloud of shame hanging above their heads for letting a fake comedy news show deliver the real news time & time again.

Exactly. The Daily show "satirical news parody show" I don't get hard news from Stewart because if he is incorrect or practices bad journalism, he can just say "don't take us seriously, we are a satirical news parody show"

That was an awesome show. Too bad it won't have any effect anywhere that matters. There will always be insider knowledge and trading on Wallstreet.

I consider the Daily Show my real news show, because Jon Stewart & Co. aren't afraid to point out the BS.

That kind of makes me sad.

It's always up to the comedians to point out the BS that's going on. Everyone involved already knows exactly what's happened, what's happening and (at least vaguely) what will happen. Everyone else knows it's all bullshit. It's just that the comedians who are the ones that shove pleasantries aside on a daily basis and get in people's faces about. We all know it's bullshit, it just takes an old man to remind us that it's bad for ya.

For a satirical news show, it has more truth in it for that half hour than CNN/FOX etc has for an entire week. Now that is truly sad and it should make you sad, as a majority of news outlets worldwide are piss poor at what they do.

I simply prefer the hard hitting reporting of SNL.

I thought the interview was pretty good, but not as epic as what I'd hoped for. His ambush grilling of Tucker on Crossfire still holds the belt.

Thanks for providing a link to the video though. I don't think any one has ever had their asses handed to them like that on their own show before that or since then.

Cramer and CNBC deserved every bit of it, and more. He used to live in his car, sure, but thanks to hit bullshit, I'd say there are many more people that will be living in their cars too.
