Title: I think my PS2 Slim is broked
Post by: GoldenPhoenix on March 09, 2009, 09:45:17 PM
After having it unplugged for several months I hooked everything up and when I hit the power button the green light comes on for like a second, then turns red again. Sad stuff.

Don't you have a  PS3 that's PS2 compatible?

Yes but I don't want to face the corrupted save games of doom in Persona!

Okay try a couple of these things:

1. Remove the disc and power it on with nothing inserted.
2. If you're using an extension cord or power strip, plug the cord directly into the wall outlet.
3. Clean the laser lens, controller and memory card connectors, and AC adapter connector. Carefully.
4. Plug the cord into a different wall outlet.
5. Remove all controllers and memory cards and see if the system powers on then.

Could be as simple as a bad power supply, in fact, that would be my number one guess.

That's what I was thinking. Makes me scared to plug in my Slim for the fear the same thing happened.

I never experienced that, if you are that paranoid always save twice (in 2 different save slots) that's what I do, whenever the PS3 saves on a virtual PS2 memory card the HD access light flickers for about a second.
