Title: Mafia XXXI: Day 1 .... Again.
Post by: Khushrenada on February 16, 2009, 03:08:13 AM
That's me getting on the bus. What does it say about me if I'm riding the short school bus? I try not to think about that. I have enough on my mind.

The bus driver is Kapp'n. I recognize him. He's the one who brought me to Vale where I once was the Mayor. It's the place I'm trying to escape from. The problems there were numerous. Crooked shopkeepers and black market dealers looking to kill one another and anyone who got in their way. A crazy penguin starting bomb threats everywhere. Things went in the crapper very fast. I had to get out. Plus, my house wasn't even close to the museum and Blathers.

So, I'm starting over and starting fresh. Kapp'n pipes up. He recognizes me. Wants to know my destination. I tell him. Beanerville. He's surprised it isn't Vale. I don't reply. He gets it. I'm getting away from the trouble. We don't speak until we pull up to Beanerville.

As I'm getting off the bus, he lets me know something. I haven't escaped anything. The business war. It's happening here too. It's happening in every town and village across the land. Tom Nook and Crazy Redd have declared and neither side is going to stop until the other is oblitered and wiped out of existance.

That's what running does. You may get away from your troubles for awhile but you don't get rid of them. All you do is tire yourself out. You tire yourself out and they still catch up to you. And now you can't fight them because you're exhausted. I thank Kapp'n for the ride and then I find myself a place to live and think. And think. And think.

I decide. I'm going to take a stand. No more running. I'm going to stay here and face my troubles whatever the result may be. I run for mayor and get elected. This time, I will handle my responsibility. I send out coded messages to Tom Nook and Crazy Redd saying I want to make a deal to hand control of Beanerville over to them. The plan works. They both respond and agree to meet with me. Once I'm sure that both have arrived in town, I go to Booker.

I watch as the last busload of people come into town and Kapp'n drives off unsure of what our situation will be when he finally returns. I make sure Booker locks the gate and then take the key from him. Now, no one will get in or out until this situation is resolved. I watch as a Penguin goes off into town. He came on that last bus into town and something about him seems to strike a nerve in my brain but I can't figure out why.

I inform the villagers of our situation. Tom Nook and Crazy Redd are here and we can rise up and stop them or be brought to our knees. That's it. There's no going back now. I walk home. Suddenly, the ground beneath starts to shake. Is this it already? Has my fate been decided so soon? Then up from the ground comes a terrifying figure like Death himself. With a deep roar, he cries out:

Trembling, I stare in awe at this awesome visage. What do you want, I ask. He responds:

You reset everything. You think this is a game? Well, OK...it is a game. But games got rules, and rules got consequences. No two ways about it! It was deliberate! A calculated, cold-blooded act of villainy by a punk! If that's how you wanna play, then that's how we'll play. All right...what to do? They don't exactly cover hoodlums like you in the reset-prevention manual. Somethin' funny to you? What am I doin' over here, stand-up? You see an APPLAUSE sign up in here? Listen you get this whole reset thing started, and you'll NEVER stop. I seen it a million times. Well, if that's what you're really lookin' for, lemme help you out.  Yeah, no problem!  I'll hit RESET for you. Everythin' that you've done so far? All that you've worked for?  Forget about it. That's right. It's all going bye-bye. No more forgive-and-forget Resetti for you, pal. Oh, no. Until you show me some real regret, I ain't leavin'!

And with that he went back into the ground. I tried to figure what he meant but I got bored by all the dialogue. I knew it was about my running away but that was all I knew. And then suddenly it hit me. The Penguin I saw earlier. Vale. He was the one we suspected behind all the bomb scares. And now he's here also. But why? Looks like my past has caught up to me again. When it rains, it pours. But this time, I'm going to weather it out.

Announcement post:

Welcome again.

To re-iterate, voting will end each day at Midnight EST. Any votes cast after that time are invalid. Death's night action is then due an hour after voting, 1:00 AM EST. All other night actions are due by 9:00 AM EST. Following that, in about an hour or so, the next day will begin.

Due to an extra couple players joining us, the Blanca role has been added back into the game. There have been a couple update on the power of the roles as well.

- Sable can not protect herself even if she is targetted by Death.
- Cube can not kill someone who is protected by Sable
- However, if someone targets Cube themselves, they will die along with Cube, even if they are protected by Sable.
- Blanca's hit goes through first even if that person is targetted by other people in the night.

Everything else should be the same.

Tonight is a 'Coon hit night.

There still is a voting requirement. Once every 3 days. If after 3 days, a person has not voted, they are killed off by me.

Well, that should be everything. Let's all have a good, clean game and may the best player(s) win. Go Foxes!

So because I am I pointed out something that happened last AC mafia game. I am talking about nothing. Brilliant logic there.
Another thing. What do you know about me this game? The night just started.Surely you know nothing about me.Unless you are Mafia.
Title: Re: Mafia XXXI: Day 1 .... Again.
Post by: Dasmos on February 16, 2009, 07:16:00 AM
I thought you were sleeping!

Also what you're posting about is nothing relevant. There is no point bringing in things from past games that will have no effect on any standing in this game.

Also you're right I know nothing about you, or anyone else for that matter, but you don't treat everyone as innocent in these games. You're guilty until proven otherwise, especially on the first day when there's not even voting or posting patterns to go by.

My vote goes to Maxi the annoying until something better comes up. ;)
Title: Re: Mafia XXXI: Day 1 .... Again.
Post by: BeautifulShy on February 16, 2009, 07:22:27 AM
Yeah well I couldn't sleep.
Before the reset I was the Bomber and Khush told me that he could be the Bomber's Apprentice.I could select him as my apprentice.
My vote goes to Dasmos the Sly till I come up with someone else.

Danger Mouse walks off the bus and is blinded by the bright light of Beanerville... It is the brilliant light of hope – hope of an escape from his former secret agent life. It was a life full of, well, Danger, and intrigue, but mostly Danger. After Penfold was killed, he knew he couldn't protect his friends or family any longer... so he'd turned in his DM badge to Colonel K and left in search of a fresh start. He just knew that this place, full of animals, just like him, would be the perfect place.

Hi everyone!

*sigh*

First Vale and now Beanerville...  Here we go again.  I think I'll just tend to my blue roses and have some coffee.  Can't we just settle this diplomatically?  I mean seriously, what are we...animals?

The Rescue Raptor gets off his boat, leaving the crew health and strangely pleased to have shared a cruise with a dinosaur.  It is nice to be home.

I love to leave my fair village, but the truth is nobody can understand why a Velociraptor would decide to take up medicine.  The prejudices of this world are are all around us.  Dinosaurs must be too stupid to study medicine.  Look at those teeth and claws, all he really wants is to murder.

Now I am home in my village where everyone knows me.  The vacation cruise was nice, just being able to take my Rescue Pack off and relax was worth it.  Thankfully the company didn't judge too much.  The food was great, and the massage therapist definitely earned her large tip.

Now it is time to get back to work...I hope somebody remembered to pull the weeds around my house.

Lets take a look at Vudu. He has a sly, almost criminal, look in his eyes and is wearing a stripe T-shirt like those who are or were formally in prison do. Note the wrinkled wart-ed face uncannily like an experienced godfather would has. Thus by this undeniable and damning evidence, Vudu must be an evil Godfather!

vote Maxi

What is this the ole Raptor has messages.

**BEEP**

Hello Rescue this is Maxi, did you remember did you remember to bring me some of that medicinal tea from the east?  Tom Nook's prices are too high and these Foxes haven't been able to get any.  Oh, do you even know about the foxes moving in?

**BEEP**  End of Messages, Goodbye.  **BEEP**

Foxes eh?  Tom Nook finally has some competition, I wonder what will happen?  We can only hope this will lead to a price war and finally bring the market down for all goods.  Of course, I know Tom Nook isn't one to take this lightly, I hope he doesn't go too far with his retaliation.

This coming from the man who is dressed up like the Bomber?  ;)

Let's look at this from a different perspective.  Last time we attempted Mafia XXXI, Stevey sent everyone a PM asking to be the Bomber's Apprentice.  Even though he didn't do it this game, I think there's a good chance that whoever is the Bomber might have made Stevey his apprentice.  (I know I would have.)  If nothing else you at least have to agree that Stevey probably has a better chance than anyone else, right?  For that reason I'm going to VOTE STEVEY.  If he is the apprentice it's better to get rid of him before he gains any powers.

Well vudu and stevey are at each other.stevey seems to believe that vudu is the godfather and vudu thinks that stevey is the bomber's apprentice.

Hypothetically speaking if vudu is the a godfather.Than it would be beneficial if the Bombers Apprentice disappeared.Of course this is all hypothetical.

I'll get on that Nickmitch.

So Maxi is doing my LEAST favorite method of getting information.  Demanding to see the PM message that states what role you are.

I HATE, HATE this method of play, and refuse to go along with it.

If you crucify me for this, fine, you lose a villager, but seriously, lets not go down this path in another mafia.

True and after the slaughterfests that resulted from that strategy, most hosts generally changed how roles were sent out. I know in my case, I will often send everyone a different message to ensure no message concerning a player's role is the same. That way, anyone can make up any message they want to sound legitimate.

As well, I will willingly make up and send any player a message stating they have a role other than the one they do have to use as well. Doing so again makes message checking an unreliable source of information. It also cast doubts on image taking. Sometimes player will show an image of the pm box with the message of their role showing in the picture. Well, now someone can delete the original message of their role and show this new fake message instead. So, in this way, even image taking can be rendered useless.

I just thought it best to warn everyone in case they are basing a strategy on that as well as to let other players know this service is available if they wish to use it or fake things on their own.

Finally, on the first time we tried this game, I had an idea of how to twist the Cube and Bomber Apprentice roles. Maxi was Cube that game so he knew what the twist was. That said, now that the twist is known, I've had a week to come up with a new twist on who is who. So, don't go basing your strategy on what was happening before. It's a new ballgame.

Yeah, the twist was that the bomber got to choose his apprentice and that could include the host ala the original AC Mafia game. Of course, it means the bomber's apprentice would not be a real role since the host(mayor) can not win the game. But it would be tradition.

The Raptor sharpens his claws and carefully dips it into his writing ink.

Dear Villagers,

What have you gotten yourself into?  Two rival commerce competitors are pricing it out with a price war of blood and we are all in the middle.  I have respected Tom Nook for years, even though his prices seemed unfair, but this is too far.  We need to kick both of these huge conglomerates out of our village and work welcome back the small businesses and craftsmen that once helped our town grow.

I do not know whom to vote for, but it appears the mayor is upset and has deemed it necessary to participate in this witch hunt.  To that end, I have drawn a name out of my pack, I hope does not win...for I am a Rescuer not an agent on condemnation.

So the time has come.  I am reluctant to vote for anyone as I have no grudges or concrete evidence to back anything up.  How can people be so quick to bandwagon?  To follow a person who's motives are not completely clear?  It is saddening to see my fellow townsfolk turn against each other at the drop of hat and I am at a loss of what to do.  The only thing I can trust in this town is Brewster and his coffee.

Just sayin'.

And unfortunately, he is only serving TEA!!!  The prices from Tom Nook and the Foxes are too high for our town to get coffee.  However, I did bring back some medicinal teas from my cruise, and I may have a bag or two of premium coffee beans from my personal stash.  Perhaps we can get together for dinner, I have been meaning to catch some fresh fish since that activity was prohibited by the Cruise Line.

Due to your country's upsidedownness it rather affects the timing and creates much confusion. So the day is ending soon is that right?

Also if someone has an spare avatar for someone lazy that would be good. Or even directions to a place where the good avatars are?

Last time my vote didn't count because I was FIVE SECONDS LATE.  D'oh!  So to avoid a slow internet connection screwing me over I think I'll vote a bit earlier this time.

Vote Gylldas  His overuse of italics displeases me.

Well, this is just my luck. I show up to this town, hoping to escape my dead end life and the shadow of my more popular brother. I even changed my name and dropped-a de' accent.

But it looks like I've managed to get myself into even more trouble. First of all, there's garbage everywhere and everything's too expensive. I must keep saying something wrong, because all the people here look at me funny. Plus, they're not even people, but talking animals.  (And there's some walking reptile that keeps licking his lips at me - though I guess that's nothing new.)

And now the gates are locked shut and folks are voting to kill each other. Oh, woe is me! How could I get myself into so much trouble? I'm going to lock myself in my house and mope the night away...
