Let me tell you boys across the pond about snow....
I had to dig a tunnel to go to the grocery store. The snow plows were stuck and had to be towed by helicopter. The tow helicopter went down in the snow storm. The wreckage is still missing. People on the second floor can walk straight out onto top of the snow from their windows.
this may be a bit exaggerated

Complete opposite here, just had our first day that was under 40 degrees celcius in 6 days. Man this 37 degrees is cool.

Last Wednesday we received an inch an hour over a 10-12 hour stretch. Not only did I still have work, my fiancee even had to go in and teach! They didn't even cancel schools!

NY snow can get sucky but i know its not as bad as other parts of the US. Still, when we do get some significant snow (like 6-12 inches) my job still wouldn't close. Snow's probably the only thing I miss about being a teenager in a retail job.. If it was bad and business was slow, or non existent, we'd get to close early. Where I'm at now, no matter what I gotta be there... even if it means sitting on my ass for 10 hours not doing a damn thing.
Sure it sounds nice to get paid to sit at my desk and browse NWR all day, but if its snowing like crazy out there, and the forecast says that it'll turn into rain which will freeze over by the time i get outta work.. its not worth it to drive home in that and risk getting into an accident and have all that 'easy money' go into repair bills.

Turns out i was wrong. it was 20cm of snow.
In response, all london buses were suspended last night, 9 out of 12 underground lines are broken and all the airports are fucked up.

We got 12 inches last week and I went out and shoveled my driveway. Now I have 4 ft mounds surrounding my drive. If I was 12 I would have loved digging tunels through all that snow.

Yes, I love my huge corn. It makes life much easier. I plow right through the snow, plus I always know what the weather is going to be like.

It's 60 degrees today. It was similar yesterday. Last week it snowed. It's supposed to snow tomorrow.
The worst part is when the snow sits there and it doesn't go away. Then, the frozen rain makes it worse by turning the campus in to a giant ice rink. . .and then I still have class.

Ugh, snow. I moved to FL to get away from that crap...
Also, this. Pale knows the score. Out in Rochester you get that lake effect snow, that's the real deal right there. If you only get two inches you got lucky. I remember one day it snowed so damn much the plows couldn't even keep up with it. As a result I drove to work with 6 inches of snow on the road.

Ok we have 6 consecutive days of the temperature exceeding 104 degrees, with night temperatures not dipping below 93 degrees. The highest it reached in the city was 115 degrees and 95 overnight.

Surprisingly, not crazy at all. A bit more traffic (I work right around the corner from Raymond James Stadium), but other than that, business as usual. The last time it was here (I used to live here during my HS years) it was MUCH crazier. I guess this recession is hitting everything hard.

I like snow, everything just looks so beautiful covered in white. It's like the earth has been wiped clean and can now start fresh, like a blank canvas just waiting to be painted with any wild idea that enters your head, like an empty skillet waiting for any delicious ingredients you can combine within it. And the cold weather brings people together, to huddle for warmth, but may yet become closer still, while staring out the window at the fresh snow.
...Hm, it just became clear to me why the Wii is white. :o

It snows quite a bit here and I must say, I love it. It's so flat where I live, so it's nice to be able to have SOME kind of fun outside during the winter; even if that means driving through the suburbs pulling 180's and 360's.
