Just saw the movie.
LOL I've never laughed so hard at other peoples demise.....well except for that one scene in Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels where that dude smashes that guys head in with his car door and he's screaming his ass off in slow mo. That was fucking great.
So let me just say this: If you've seen that scene that I just described and liked it, then you'll like this movie. The plot isn't much, but the action.....oh man, the action is great.

i laughed my ass off during The Ruins, it was largely at inappropriate times during the movie, but i thought that movie was fucking stupid, so anytime anyone died i just thought it was grossly hilarious.

Ya that movie was pretty damn stupid. I still enjoyed it too. I happen to love horror movies. Why? Well if their good, then, I enjoy it because it's scary. If their bad, I enjoy it because it's hilarious.
For instance, I watched this movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0284445/ because it was laughably bad. And it didn't disappoint.

of course i think most forumers know im a horror aficionado. The movie wasn't so bad, but when the german dude was getting his leg amputated by a few loose stones, i was laughing really loud. Then because i was laughing my brother started Laughing. The other 5 or 6 people in the cinema must have thought we were fucking loons.

Taken was FANTASTIC. It was so angry and aggressive but truly didn't try to stop to hold up to develop a story. No GIMME BACK MY SON!!!!! kinda moments but kept going until it was done.

Jan 30th. I try not to get in the habit of downloading or watching movies online because going to the theater actually gives me a place to go when all other plans fall thru on a friday night.

Lol thats exactly what i was going to say when i saw GP's message. I'm not for pirating of movies (but i'm a hypocrite cuz i pirate music when I can't find it by conventional means) but I'm not the type to bash those that do. Hell if my computer was up to snuff I'd probably do it myself, but its not so i don't do it. I can't even watch youtube on my computer because the video gets so choppy ;)

Well for quite awhile I rented DVDs and then burned them. Though even then I started getting really guilty so I stopped and now I'm back to buying them in the store.

Vudu. That's a horrible way to stick up for me. Yes I am already participating in illegal activities, but am I inherently evil because of it? (still pretty funny though)
Anyway, has anyone else seen this movie? I just saw it again for the third time and it still cracks me up. The way people die.....man...it's all so brutal! I love it!

i'm too lazy at the moment to mention if i saw this or not, but i did and yes it was pretty entertaining. Too bad it was PG13 though.. i didn't know that going in, adn about halfway thru i was like "heyyy! this isn't all that violent, what gives!?" Not sure if the less graphic violence is what made it funny, or if it woulda been better with a more graphic presentation.

The video I saw had tons of violence including people getting stabbed with shards of glass and people getting shot point blank. Could they have possibly edited it in order to appeal to higher mass of people?

Sure it was a little more graphic than The Dark Knight (which had more implied violence) but really all it woulda taken to get the R rating was show some blood splatter on a wall after a guy was shot point blank in Taken. Hell i can't recall any blood at all in that!

The non-blood splatter reminds me of Goldeneye w/ Brosnan. Lots of mortally wounded people in that, you know.

So I rewatched it and the version I had been watching was uncut (meaning R) and there is definitely blood, but no blood splatter. The one in theater was PG-13. People get there head bashed in by extinguishers and shot at from point blank range. There isn't an unrealistic amount of blood, but it's definitely violent. At one point someone gets shot 8 times in a row from a little further than 3 feet.

I just watched this movie last nite. What a ride. Lots of action, and even looking at it from a cynical standpoint, there was hardly anything that was implausible enough to take you out of the movie.
If you like theaters, then I suggest you go watch this there. If you can't wait, then you know what you would have to do... otherwise, don't forget to add this to your Netflix list.

Yeah I saw this not long ago, completely floored me how brutal it was. I wasn't expecting it at all. Like when he shot that guys wife.
It was a pretty **** movie overall, but the action was cool. It just had not much else.

i saw the movie the lodge last night and of course hated it
i saw the movie taken a half hour ago and of course loved it
the difference, in the lodge the characters are fucking stupid and deserve to fail, because they don't resort to any means neccassary to obtain their objective
in Taken its just the opposite, the main character is systematically ruthless and is constantly on the offense.
It reminds me how i felt while playing Perfect Dark and Resident Evil 4. Adrenaline flowing, no nonsense, achieve the objective, don't be stupid.

Great movie, but one thing bothers me, why does no one give a **** about Amanda? He sees her dead and moves on, the day gets saved and all that happens is the audition with the vocal coach. He could have at least sent the body back to the States for her parents to bury.

thats exactly what i was thinking at the end. I'm just surprised that the daughter didn't want to ride with her dad after the plane ride. She owes everything to her father. EVERYTHING.
