In an effort to trump the existing Nintendo Wii remote controller, Nyko is introducing what the company is calling the most advanced Wii remote yet.
The Nyko Wand looks a lot like the Wii remote we're all used to, but instead can output commands and even vibration through the controller's port at the bottom of the device. Using what Nyko calls Trans-Port technology, the new interface will allow compatible devices to take advantage of functionality not always available in current Wii remote accessories.
For example, a new pistol grip for The Wand will allow not only full force-feedback, but also a way to use the 1, 2, +, and - buttons without the need to reach around to the top of the remote. Also, the controller's uniquely oversize face buttons should help when using the device with the aid of an accessory.
The Wand will ship to stores this April, however no price has been set.

Yeah, that's pretty ugly...Though if it's comfortable I guess that doesn't really matter...

VC-Reviews (http://www.vc-reviews.com/news/2008/12/hands_on_with_snakebytes_xs_starter_pack) covered a much less goofy looking 3rd part remote last month.

If it's got its own Zapper shell, and it's identical to the Perfect Shot, it fails.

That's an interesting D-pad. I wonder how well it performs during gameplay. You guys laugh and dismiss it, but for all we know it be far more functional than the standard controller.

I miss the circle d-pads. They tore up my thumb, but I kicked ass at Mortal Kombat because of it.

Doesn't Nintendo own the design of the D pad they have used since the NES controller?
No, that expired half way through the last gen IIRC

You just know UncleBob's gonna buy one. It is fugly but like Bill said, if its comfortable...
I don't think its for me though, based on the D-pad alone. I never liked anything other than the simple cross-pad Nintendo always used. Those circle ones were a bitch to use.

Well, it seems if anyone makes a slick looking remote, similar to Nintendo's original design, Nintendo will sue the crap out of them. So companies are sort of forced to make ugly junk. I feel bad for them.

Yeah it turns out it's another near-useless shell. The only positive seems to be that the trigger is electronically linked the controller, like a Nunchuck, so there's no mechanical tomfoolery to pull on the B-trigger (which I originally hoped that Zapper shells would've done in the first place, but Nintendo isn't interested in making anything good, only cheap). It'll probably cost as much as a Nunchuk as well. And require batteries to enable rumble. And I wonder if it's only compatible with Nyko's controller in the first place, as a required purchase($$$$$$$$$$$$$ SOARING).
IN THE END Nyko proves they still have no idea how to aim these zapper things, lacking any guiding sights whatsoever.
NO SALE.

It looks like a dog treat.
I do like the little bit of color they've added.
(I want some different colored wiimotes already....)

I don't mind the design. I think the control pad might be great for diagonals and I wonder if the wiimote speaker is better than Nintendos. If Nyko is smart they will price it cheap like $27.99 or something.

A lot of people seem intrigued by the "trans-port technology." It seems somewhat pointless to me, that's all.

Why not just sell and all out pistol shaped wii-remote at this point? The ability to replicate buttons is neat... ultimately though it should just be on game developers to allow you to customize buttons for games.
Also, am I the only one that first saw wang at the bottom of this thing and thought it was a joke... I know it's wand, but that's not what I saw at first...
