Reported in the Jan. 09 Game Informer Mag
Setlist:
METALLICA has revealed the complete track listing for the upcoming Guitar Hero: Metallica game, which is due out in North America on March 29 (for the PS3/360, Wii/PS2 to come later). It is as follows:
METALLICA tracks:

If you downloaded the "Death Magnetic" album for Xbox and PS3, those ten songs will play in their entirety in the full game mode. PS2 and Wii versions (coming in the spring, most likely in early May) will include "Broken Beat & Scarred", "Cyanide" and "My Apocalypse" since they are not compatible with the "Death Magnetic" downloadable content.

Known Features: Expert Plus: New Drum difficulty. It's a special difficulty for people with a splitter and two kick pedals. Not compatible with World Tour online Leaderboards.
DVD Style Content: Photos, set lists, fan club videos, rare live and behind the scenes footage
New tones: GHTunes is in the game and it offers up exclusive tones from James Hetfields ESP Truckster guitar and Slayers Tom Araya's ESP Bass.
Drum Fill Mode: New cheat that lets you play freestyle drums on song using Metallica drum sounds.
Metallifacts: Watch performances of each track overlaid with Pop-Up Video style windows that points out trivia.

God that list is awful. More old Metallica needs to get incorporated or else that game is going to be a waste of a good band.

ahah, I'm actually excited about the non-metallica songs more.
Shortest Straw is my most wanted Metallica song.

Whatever, guys. King Nothing + Fuel = sells me a copy.
So, on drums Expert+, are the two kicks two separate inputs, or is it just so I can do kicks more rapidly?

They had to go and put Tuesday's Gone on it. The only Lynyrd Skynyrd song that doesn't make me want to kill myself and they put it in the Metallica game. Nuts. ;)
I don't have GH: Aerosmith yet and my plan is to pick up just the disc years down the road used and cheap. I guess I'll do the same for this.
Hopefully my instruments won't break before then. It would be so cool in like 2015 to get all these track packs and such for a couple of bucks and have the ultimate Guitar Hero/Rock Band song lineup.

I wonder when people will get sick of Guitar Hero: Band Whore Out Edition considering that neversoft can't get note charts right if their life depended on it.

Yeah, it's strange problem in both games (although it's no nearly as bad as it use to be). Neversoft loves to overchart and Harmonix undercharts.

I cant judge RB cuz i havent played those games, but GH:WT is much better with the charts than GH3. If theres any overcharting in World Tour, I've never noticed.

The funny thing is I don't mind being hit with tons of notes. It just makes it more challenging. As a real guitar player I was very disinterested in Guitar Hero at first but my first exposure to it was playing one of the easier songs in a store demo. Later I picked one of the hardest (though still on easy since I was a beginner) and had a blast.
Rhythm games is one of the few videogame genres I'm actually naturally good at so I need to be challenged somewhat or I'll be bored. And I'm not playing on expert or anything. I'm mostly playing on normal but overcharting is not something I'm bothered by. If Guitar Hero is the harder game then I'm more interested in it.
All my friends are musicians too so I'm also not concerned about the game being too hard for them.

While i agree with you that a greater challenge is interesting and keeps me coming back for more, what i disliked about the overcharting in GH3 is that playing a song on expert that i already know on my (obviously real) guitar felt impossible to do.
"Holiday In Cambodia" is a song I learned how to play as a freshman in highschool, and sure it was a hard song then as a beginner, but over the years i could play it with ease. Why the hell do i have to strum twice as much in GH3 though? Thats just stupid.

I want to see Battery, Of Wolf and Man, Hero of Day, Master of Puppets which is already on that list, and The Call of Cthulu (sp?) too, and I might just finally get Guitar Hero.

The Thing That Should Not Be!
Am I mentioning a song or describing this game? You decide.

Is there a heavier version other than the one played in S&M?

This is probably a stupid question, but you know it's on Master of Puppets, right? The whole Death Magnetic DLC better work in this game too, with Expert Plus drums.

Well the thing is I really hate about how neversoft charts the notes is that some notes don't make sense at all like they only put the note there just because they could. I think Harmonix charts the songs closer to the original.
And then again I'd rather play a music game made by people who play instruments in real life(Harmonix) rather than a former skateboarding developer(Neversoft) and a porting house (Vicarious Visions(note: VV is awesome just don't want to play a music game by them after the first Guitar Hero game on DS)).

Agreed. I'll still get it (Xbox 360 version for sure), but Rock Band: Metallica would be much better, no doubt.

I'd rather play a music game made by people that don't f*ck over owners of the most popular console. If I owned a different console than the Wii then I'd have Rock Band but I don't so Guitar Hero earned my business. Though I really want both, but with only having to buy one set of instruments.
I will say I have encountered the odd song in Guitar Hero that feels just off and I can't get into the groove with. In GHIII it was Same Old Song and Dance which both my brother and I can never do that well on despite being musicians and it not being that hard of a song. Whoever charted that one f*cked up. The timing is totally off.

Okay Ian Rock Band 1 could be considered sloppy on Wii but Rock Band 2 has DLC, SD card streaming, GH3/WT instrument compatibility how are they fucking over Wii owners with the 2nd iteration?

Are you forgetting about the crapfest that was GH3 on Wii? Shitty PS2 port with no online, and mono sound...

GH3 Wii has online, PS2 was the only version without online. The only thing the Wii lacked was DLC.

They likely aren't with Rock Band 2. But I got into one game first and there was always that risk of instrument incompatibility. So GH wins out because they were there first and didn't screw up their first Wii game as harshly. Everyone is very quick to point out that Rock Band and Harmonix are the better choice but for someone who only owns a Wii Rock Band just never was a choice. And even now the Wii version of Rock Band 2 is coming out late.
Not just in this forum but all over the place these games are treated very much like Xbox 360 exclusives and the fact that Rock Band has treated the Wii rather poorly is not really taken into consideration. It's VERY weird that that's the case here on a Nintendo site. Why is this even in the General Gaming thread? It's a Wii game.

METALLICA has revealed the complete track listing for the upcoming Guitar Hero: Metallica game, which is due out in North America on March 29. It is as follows:
METALLICA tracks:

I have to say, the guest band track list kicks ass.

I just noticed the game's tagline is "Ride the Lightning in 2009" and no RTL in the setlist. ahhaa. wtf.

eh.. Not that I was going to get this game anyway, but outside of a select few Metallica tunes, theres only about 3 other songs I'd really like to play out of the setlist.

I feel the exact opposite. I don't even list Metallica, but I'll pick up this game in a second (if I even had GH4 of RB2).
Double-bass for the win.

Well Ian cat bit your tongue Guitar Hero Metallica on Wii is now coming out about 2 months after the PS3/360 versions.

Great setlist, but I'm not going to buy any separate games. All of these developers really need to get it together and start explorting such setlists into the main game like Rock Band does with its track packs (not that it does that on the Wii... bastards).
