Title: Nintendo to Publish Fatal Frame IV in Europe

The Grasshopper-developed survival horror sequel will be released early next year in PAL territory, courtesy of NoE.

 The most recent issue of the UK's Official Nintendo Magazine has revealed that Nintendo of Europe will be publishing Fatal Frame 4 across Europe, projecting a release date sometime during February 2009.  A partial scan of the magazine confirming the information has been posted at GoNintendo and elsewhere.    


The latest instalment in Tecmo's storied survival horror franchise, Fatal Frame 4 was developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and published by Nintendo Co. Ltd. exclusively for Wii upon its Japanese launch back in July of this year.  There is still no release date or confirmed publisher for North America.

One of the XSEED guys said that it's coming when asked if they were going to publish it, it's just not by them (I'd THINK it'd be Nintendo, but who knows?)

Well there's one already out published by Namco, and another in the works that I'd expect to work the same... =)

It's just Europe that is in question, considering Dawn of the New World hasn't been announced there...

Hopefully this doesn't get the same treatment as "Disaster" (releases everywhere except the US). The game was riddled with many game breaking bugs, so that might be enough to can the release in the US.

Sounds more like they're just holding it till we all forget it even exists so they can quietly shelve it.  It boggles the mind why Nintendo is dragging its feet with this game in North America, and they don't even have the excuse of it apparently sucking like they do with Disaster: Day of Crisis.

It's another Japanese game that's too good for the rest of the world.

Or it's a game by Japanese devs who admit Japanese development isn't better than the West anymore, so NCL grants their wish by not showing it to real audiences.

I think he is surprised that the game hasn't even been announced for North America yet. I am too to be honest. I also want Disaster: Day of Crisis and Tingle's Rose Colored Rupee Land (or whatever the hell its called), neither look like they will come out here.

Apparently, IGN has confirmed through Tecmo that Fatal Frame IV will NOT be coming to North America, as Nintendo owns the publishing rights and has decided not to bring it over here.

Frack you, Nintendo.  It's stuff like this that has me really tempted to get rid of my Wii for good...

And Nintendo wonders why 3rd Party Publishers are so reluctant to put anything decent on the Wii, when they're withholding 3rd party games they publish from North America for no apparent reason.

In all fairness, Fatal Frame 4 is the only game on that list generally considered good (or at least playable.  H.A.M.M.E.R. never really got off the ground if I remember correctly).

Having played Disaster: Day of Crisis I can tell you that it's actually not that bad. Not that great either since it does get pretty repetitive, but far from unplayable.

Also, I don't buy this.

I now officially consider Marvelous, XSEED, and Sega as "major third party support."

Capcom, Square, Konami, and Namco have been de-listed for 'tarding-out.
