That's right NWR fans the boys and girls at Monster games who made Excite Truck, are developing a top secret Wii game for Nintendo and they are almost done.

The process is so private the designers must darken their monitors when the bottled-water deliveryman enters the office. The company won Yahoo’s “Best Racing Game of 2006″ award for its last game for the Nintendo Wii called “Excite Truck.” Wendy’s fast-food restaurants across the nation, including the one in Northfield, promoted the game with Excite Truck kids’ meals. But, Garcia said, he believed few Northfielders ever realized the game’s designers lived right in the city. Garcia is married and raising two daughters, who aren’t quite as avid video game players as he is, he said. “I encourage them as much as possible,” he said, laughing. The only bump Garcia foresees for the company in the near future is securing another contract with a video game developer once the contract with Nintendo ends. “It is kind of nerve-racking,” he said. “Because, with this kind of work, it’s like having to find a new job every two years.”

Hmmm what could it be? They worked on racing games before. It could be F-zero or Wave Race.Since they are so secretive it can't be one of those. Too predictable. I am just gonna say they are working on Kid Icarus.

Nope, Monster Games solely focuses on Racing games.

Let's hope it'll be something as fun and insane as Excite Truck. I think that's the only racing game I really enjoyed recently since there's so much more to do than just making sure you get first place.

Nope, Monster Games solely focuses on Racing games.

With Nintendo I think keeping a predictable sequel secret would be the sort of WTF thing they would do. ;)
Hopefully it's something fresh. Hell even another Excite ____ would be more interesting then Nintendo farming off F-Zero or Wave Race yet again or some sort of Mario spin-off. Developers usually have their own unique style and it's much more interesting to see games that bring out that uniqueness, instead of just a generic Nintendo franchise that looks like it would have turned out the same regardless of who made it.

I wouldnt mind seeing an Excite X sequel that would include the bikes again. Excitebike is still fun today, and i remember loving Excitebike 64 back in the day. Man i loved pulling off a sweet Kobe over the chasm in that grand canyon level. Plus there was more satasfying about cutting in front of another racer and hitting the brakes so their front wheel touches your back wheel and causing them to bail, over just smashing into another truck*.
If it is a plain ol' Excite Truck sequel (ie no bikes) then i hope they at least include online play and for the love of god don't make multiplayer 1 vs 1!!
*Though flying thru the air and purposely landing on top of another truck is MUCH more satisfying than either.

Maybe it will be something more in the vein of Motorstorm where you have trucks, ATV, motorcycles, mini monster trucks but more over the top excite truck style with MP3 support and online.

I'd still be playing Excite Truck if I could stomach the multiplayer. Unfortunately the split screen is useless in its fixed vertical state. Furthermore, it's kind of lame that you can't simply go 1 vs. 1.

Maybe the Excite Truck sequel will get revenge and copy Motorstorm this time and take out time trial and offline multiplayer. That'd take a lot of time.
If it's so secretive, maybe that means it's not a racing game? I hope it is though. There's also rumors that Firebrand are making a (or two) Wii game, makers of Create & Race and Trackmania DS.
I don't think it's F-Zero because that'd be the kind of project they'd be joint developing with Nintendo and it sounds like they're all sitting in their offices by themselves. Excite Truck 2 or a new project is my guess, can't wait.

But it's probably just another Earthbound game. what a WASTE.

Something to make up for the lack of Burnout, i hope. Given that Excite Truck was practically there all they need to do is add online multiplayer.

When I first got Excite truck, I thought there was no way I could handle the control. Low and behold, I finished the entire game only to be sadden by the fact that there is only one alien level (which is easily the best level of the entire game).

That was the only level i couldnt beat when i worked at the Nintendo Store. i would play it on my lunch breaks constantly trying to get the set number of points.

I would welcome another arcade racer. I love them and my main franchise (Burnout) has been a disappointment for me. I'm in the minority of not liking the switch to an open world set-up. Who doesn't want to play local player Burnout?
So bring on more arcade racing games I say. ExciteTruck was great. I loved it and I can't wait to see what this is.
Hopefully the secrecy is because it something mind blowing.

I agree with you on Burnout.
I'd really really really like this game to be Excite Truck 2. However, if it is F-Zero I'd love it as much as my first born child.
