Thankfully, my childhood was long gone before the crap that is Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Dragonball Z came around.
Unfortunately, my childhood was still kicked in the groin with the Transformers movie, so I feel your pain. Though since I have watched Dragonball Z before, this is more like a kick to the groin, grab them while they are shooting up your throat, punch in the stomach, and snap them down kind of pain.
Oh what oh what will they do to GI Joe...

I actually liked the Transformers movie. It had a good balance of action and humor. It wasn't a good as Iron Man's but still good. Although, it could have been better and much more faithful.

I dunno why so many transformers fans bitch about the movie, when it's basically how they handled each of the individual series. And the movie was probably the best thing to hit the franchise since beast wars/beast machines. Like it or not, Bay gave the franchise a nice shot in the arm, which it needed dearly. Now, transformers animated...that's pretty bad.
Now this (DragonBall) looks like it barely pulls from the source material. I'm still hopeful though.

I'm hopeful too! If they can somehow avoid Dragon Ball as much as possible the movie might turn out allright!

This trailer looks like the same kind of prank as that Zelda movie trailer. I'm just going to assume it's a prank. If the movie actually comes out, that's also a prank.

Mai is one of Emperor Pilaf's minions. That would make sense if they were just doing the first story from Dragonball, but then Piccolo wouldn't be in it.
Oh and picolo does eventually turn green in the film.
That suggests that the main plot will be when Piccolo wished to have his youth and power restored, which isn't a bad plot to use, except that the whole thing will be a massive CF if they try to merge the Pilaf and Piccolo stories.
