Title: Which forum suicide was better?
Post by: NWR_insanolord on September 25, 2008, 07:05:43 PM
After reading Rat's this question came to mind. Rat's was sudden, controversial, and huge, but Wandering's had a certain poetic charm to it. What do the people think?

Do you want to be like women that are engines that need warming up?

or like men who are like bottle rockets?

Wandering, by far.  He said he was going to do it like 3 years ago and he stuck to his word.  Poetic, indeed.

Also, have we ever had one mod ban the same user twice?  This must be some sort of record.

Pffff, that was like having all year to research and write a lengthy report and then doing it all the day before it's due...It was completely sloppy, with no class at all...

She left quietly.  She was tired of posting, of some things being said.  I wasn't completely sure about her being gone, but I PM'ed her about mafia, and she let me know she was thinking about it.

i hope it wasnt any of that offensive, sexist talk Kashogi was throwing around....

her and i might not of been "close" but i enjoyed her post. Particularly the ones where she'd debate with people... which was most of them<3

I didn't include GoldenPhoenix because she left the door open that she might return. Rat's been banned and Wandering gave his word that he's not coming back, and the spam thread was clearly used to quickly and intentionally reach his self-imposed 5,000 post limit.
Title: Re: Which forum suicide was better?
Post by: Dasmos on September 25, 2008, 11:05:51 PM
Wandering's for sure, it was almost beautiful. I may have been a catalyst to his self-death, but he has assured me that I wasn't the reason he left. Which made me feel warm inside.

Rat's was basically a giant dummy spit over a non-subject. It's about time if you ask me, he's been banned 3 times or something and always came crawling back. Hopefully the mods will have the good sense to not let him back.

I hope GoldenPhoenix comes back.  Her posts were usually pretty insightful even if I didn't always agree with them.  Plus, this place is too much of a sausagefest.

Getting back to the topic at hand I'm going to have to go with Wandering just because that was at least premeditated, even if in execution it was thrown together at the last minute.  Rat's was just totally reactionary.  But honestly neither one was a real great, "A-1" type of suicide.

I don't get this audience without ears business, but he over reacted like he always does, he put his foot in his mouth like he always does, he was a major retard like always. This time though he did it all in one post. The guy didn't want a political discussion, he wanted an argument.

Hey, what happened to showing the amount of posts people have? Was that just a ploy to expose how many posts Wandering had until he hit 5000? I know the point system disappeared a long time ago but now this. What other changes am I missing?

I know of at least one Wandering dupe (which posted before Wandering forum suicided). If the dupe starts posting again, I'm going to call bullshit on his forum suicide.

As for rat, this isn't his first forum suicide, nor was it the funniest.

As for people who announce they're leaving, they're morons (yeah, I know, I did it, big deal). I did it for political reasons and it got a new forum as well. It was worth it even if people think of me as a hypocrite.

I respect those who fade to black (with good reason). Hell, I'm basically a lurker these days aside from an occasional troll post. When people start asking where you've gone - that's when you know you were memorable.

Anything else is just self-gratification...

You're kidding, right?  There's nothing legit about the vast majority of Maxi's posts.  Nine times out of ten his post consists of nothing but a link to a GoNintendo post.

RE:  Post counts

You can still view the site stats (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?action=stats) to see post counts for the "big 10".  :)  You can also click on someone's user name to open their profile and then select general statistics at the bottom of the page to see their individual stats.

At this time of this post, EasyCure has 3,910 posts, has started 38 topic (including 1 poll) and seems to spend the vast majority of his time in the Funhouse (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=8599;sa=statPanel).

I announced I was leaving once.  I was really mad at someone about Smash Bros.  I don't remember the details.

Vudu: No i'm not kidding. He's had some post that arent links to info (very few though). I admit that gets a little annoying since he'll post links but won't actually discuss anything in them, and more annoying still is his needyness when his follow up post is "did you check out my link??" but still, its better than someone who comes in and trolls the hell out of the place. He's providing us with discussion fodder, i think we're all just too lazy to click his links and discuss. I blame Bill for things like this:

Uhmm, it was when Wii was first announced I think, the controller anyway... and we were arguing about whether or not the new Smash would use motion controls.  I said it wouldn't because they wouldn't mess with a good thing... someone else said it definitely would because they wouldn't shoot their new innovation in the foot or something.

Notice how I ended up being right? =P

I voted for Wandering because I may have had something to do with it, which made it more personal (for the record, I liked Wandering, and I only posted the "not that many good posts" thread out of annoyance at his trolling the whole board).  I still doubt Wandering's really gone for good, though.  I didn't witness rat's, but I saw it coming before I left last night when Fox News came up.  I knew he'd at least get himself into trouble, so I have to deduct points both for predictability and lack of originality.

I hadn't yet noticed that GP wasn't around.  She was pretty interesting when she wasn't just pushing Kairon's buttons.  :)

oooh sounds dirty.

I still havent voted, i cant decide to be honest. I didnt know wandering that well and never noticed him much unless he or someone else would point out that he was:

a. a bad poster
b. trolling to get to 5000 post sooner.

As for Rat.. he was ok. I never found him funny like Kashogi does, but i didn't really think he'd end up snapping the way he did.
If anything i expected him getting banned after a few repeat warnings. He'd always end up with his foot in his mouth, no one aggitated him into making dumb political statements**, he'd say something and someone would remind him its not allowed, and he'd get all mad. I saw him getting reported to mods, or warned by mods one too many times then maybe starting a topic where he'd complain about being scolded or ratted out, then a quiet ban. But this? To go out in a (stupid) blaze of glory(not really)??? Never saw it coming...

still though, no vote from me. Not yet, i'll have to think about it some more.

** by "dumb political statements" i am not suggesting his views were stupid, but that his doing so was stupid because he knows the rules yet insisted on bringing up such topics, in a harsh way no less.

pre-post edit:

No bill, we've all become lazy cuz of you. Not that we dont appreciate it!!!

No Bill is just an attention whore.

Discuss.

Should I bump every single topic I've ever made, no matter how irrelevant it is? ='D

I hope so!

I announced I was leaving once.  I was really mad at someone about Smash Bros.  I don't remember the details.

If you can give me some more information about this post I'm sure I can dredge it up.  ;)

I can't remember who I was arguing with.  It may have been Smash Brother, but I may only be thinking that because of his handle.

It was with zakkiel.

Speaking of grudges, watch your back, Pale.
