Not cursed, but Cubs will still botch it because that's what Chicago does.

But Barman will not be allowed to the playoffs, nor any goats, black cats, or mitts dipped in Gatorade.  I think we're covered this year.

Since my Indians are out of it I'm rooting for a Tampa Bay-Cubs World Series. I'm not sure which of them I want to win.

Last year was a real bummer for Cleveland, I was hoping for a Rockies vs Indians WS.

I was sick in bed during game 7 of last year's ALCS listening to them blow it on the radio, which made it feel even worse.

Damn this curse!!  An error by each member in the infield yesterday?!  3 of them in the 2nd inning!

I think they'll play better once they're on the road.  This looks like a case in which a team is actually intimidated by playing in front of their home crowd because of the immense pressure and expectations on them to win.  They're playing really tight.

I'm still sad the Mets choked in September again

That could definitely be the case as I'm sure watching a priest sprinkle holy water all over the dugout before game  1 didn't help either.

I don't really follow baseball that closely.  My Blue Jays seemed to think the ideal way to follow back-to-back World Series wins was to not make the playoffs for 15 years.  That sort of thing can kill one's interest in the sport.  But the playoffs are always fun so I watched all three games yesterday and enjoyed myself.

I don't know the Cubs that well but figured I'd root for them.  100 years without a World Series seems like a good enough reason to root for them as any.  But then we got into the second inning and my immediate thought was "no wonder this goofs are branded as losers".  That was one of the most embarrassing examples of choking I've ever seen and I live in the PACIFIC NORTHWEST.  Canucks, Seahawks, MARINERS.  And even I'm making fun of the Cubs?  OUCH! :)

So how come the White Sox are the less popular Chicago team?  They won the World Series a few years back.  You figure that would get enough bandwagon jumpers to switch sides.  After last night I'm actually thinking of rooting for the White Sox just to see Ken Griffey Jr. win a World Series.

But the Red Sox looked finished the year they won it so you never know.  Funny how they're almost like a bad guy team now that obnoxious people like.  I guess winning two World Series changes that.

A few stragglers have jumped ship to the Sox, but for the most part, Chicago is a Cubs Town, kind of like New York is all about the Giants and Yankees instead of the Jets and Mets.  I think most of that come from the Cubs rich history and wonderful Wrigley Field as well as not getting caught in some huge gambling scandal many years ago.

Its funny you're from that area, as the only thing that DOES give me hope today is that Lou Piniella coached your Mariners back from an 0-2 deficit to over come the Yankees back in 95.  Hopefully now that everyone expects them to loose the Cubs can bite back and return to their normal form for game 3.

Chicago is split. Half cubbies; half sox. You can't call Chicago a cubs town.

Except the Giants and Yankees are like good teams that frequently win championships and the Jets and Mets usually suck. ;)  If I lived in New York those would be my teams as well.

No way.  Cubs OWN chicago.  How many other stadiums do the Sox have besides Cellular?  None.  The Cubs have Wrigley and Miller in Milwaukee.

On top of that, I was in the city when the Sox won the WS.  I barely heard a peep.  When the Bulls won in their day their were riots, and when the Cubs finally win those riots will spread all the way to Suburbs then spilling into the rest of the Continental United States!!    8)

The Cubbies indeed own Chicago.  The White Sox are second-class citizens, ask anyone that lives there.

100 years without a WS win?  SO WHAT! The bears and the bulls have enough rings. I'm from philly where NO TEAM HAS WON ANYTHING SINCE 1983!! Thats 100 Seasons (4 pro teams x 25 years) with nothing, nada, zilch!  If by some miracle the sports gods take pity on us and the Phillies win the World Series, the collective sports orgasm the happens in that moment will be heard all around the world and seen from jupiter's 3rd moon!

This maybe the year for us, if we can get some consistent pitching and the bats stay warm.

When was the last time you went there? I go there at least once a month (I live 2 hours away) and I see a **** ton of sox fans up there (hell, even Barack Obama is a sox fans).

Still got you beat.  Last Pacific Northwest team to win was the SuperSonics in 1979 and they just moved to OK.  So Seattle and Vancouver together have NO ACTIVE TEAMS THAT HAVE WON THE BIG ONE!

Unless you count the Grey Cup the last time Vancouver won something was the Stanley Cup back in 1915.

Just there a couple months ago, after living there for four years prior to moving to Denver.  Before living up North I resided in Normal, 2 hours South.  Normal was split half and half, Cubs and Cardinals, no Sox fans to be found.

As far as living in Chicago, I met Sox fans on occasion, but very rarely.  I actually worked for the same company as the legendary Bartman, and needless to say, the place was crawling with Cub fans.  On top of that, the company was assaulted by Cub fans the day after the Bartman fiasco in 2003, it was pretty insane.  Cars everywhere, phones ringing non-stop, total chaotic chaos.  Since then, ESPN has come by the parking lot on a number of occasions trying to interview the poor guy.

But yes, Obama is a huge Sox fan, and I respect him for that.  There's nothing worse than a politician stating he like both teams equally.  Like when Guilliani said he was rooting for the Red Sox AND The Yankees during the primaries in 2007, pathetic.

But for more evidence on why Chicago will always be a Cubs town, please refer to the following video:

I live in Chicago and I support this statement.

The Sox rules on the southside of Chicago.  However, the Cubs are generally the preferred team everywhere else.

Oh, and yes, the Cubs ARE cursed.

Indeed, there is NO other explanation for EVERY infielder flubbing a routine play in game 2.

Honestly, after seeing them dominate so well during the regular season and absolutely choke yet again in the playoffs, its going to be VERY hard to get excited next year.  Until I see them win a playoff game w/ authority, I'm going to do my best to keep expectations extremely low.

The Cubbies are the new Braves.
