Title: Mario Kart Mafia: Day One
Post by: Plugabugz on July 25, 2008, 10:37:06 AM
Day One has begun and the attacks begin mere SECONDS off the starting line!

ACTIVE PLAYERS:
UncleBob
Vudu
Spak
Dasmos
Nickmitch
Stevey
Khush
Easycure
Wandering

Votes to kill off player here today. Votes will end at 9pm Pacific Time (5am GMT). DaAaMan64 will call the start and end of days from now on.

I will not be publishing point tallies - however everyone starts with 3 points.
I will be noting item usage, but not against who specifically.
If anyone wishes to openly discuss their usage or current points, that is their decision.
Everyone is entitled to a day vote (thread) and a night vote (PM). All players have the same equal abilities.

May the backstabbing COMMENCE!

2 teams of 4 and the green player.

Holy crap! There are 4 mafia members to the 4 townie members? And the mafia members get a hit at night as well? Therefore, the mafia know who almost half the players of the game are and have a 1 in 5 chance of finding the green member.

In most games, when there is a tie of mafia members and townie members, the game is over. I realize this game requires the elimination of the whole team but the difference is, one team gets a free kill every night against the other team. If the green player gets voted out today, it's game over. The mafia can then hit a townie at night and they control all night actions and the vote since it will be 4 mafia, 3 townies. Even if a townie is killed, the mafia will be in a great position although they have to rely on a bit of luck from the green player to know for sure how much of an advantage they have.

Of course, this is all based strictly on a no item game, with items things are even more deadly since the mafia can cordinate who they want to hit with their items but the townies are uncordinated and could therefore target other townies giving the mafia more of advantage.

At this point, the only hope for the green player and the townies is to work together. Fortunately, the green player has the Blue Shell which is a devestating weapon against a team. Yes, I know who the Green player is, thank goodness. That gives the townies a slight advantage since of the seven players left, I know 4 are mafia and 3 are townies.

Help me narrow the odds.

My understanding is the mafia doesn't get a hit at night.  For the purposes of this game, the mafia and the townies are different in name only.  They have the same abilities (with the exception of the team-specific items).

Everyone has 3 hit points.  You lose these hit points by getting voted for (either during the day or during the night) or by getting hit by items.  Lose all your points and you die.

So a well-unified team could quite possibly take out two opposing players in a single day, depending on how Plugz calculates things.  Which brings me to my question--how exactly is Plugz keeping tally?  Are votes tallied in real-time--meaning if three people vote for someone in the morning does that person die immediately, or does it not take affect until nighttime (or possibly even the next day)?  How about night voting--if three people vote for someone at the start of the night and then that person votes for someone else does his vote count before he dies?

Everything is handled in the order in which i see it, in real-time (i'm working around the timezones as best i can).

Some items like Stars that protect the player are immune to attacks regardless of the time it's used.

That wasn't my understanding. I only found out when Plugabugz messaged me back to correct me. I say you know too much because you are mafia. You're explaining the situation becuase you know the situation well. Often times, mafia members reason away how something happened because they know how it happened.

un-VOTE VUDU

Oh, for Christ's sake, it's in the fucking rules (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=25511.0).

This is a normal mafia game but there is no mafia "powers" of sort. All players have will have items from Mario Kart Wii. They can be used on same team or opposite team. Use them to protect your team, target the green player, or protect yourself.

I guess this what I get for speaking out and drawing attention to myself on day one.

If I'm going down, you're going down with me.  UNvote khushenada  ;)

Nah, no worries. I just want to get something going. If you have no objections, I would actually like to target EasyCure.

Vote EasyCure

As a bonus, if you vote with me, I'll tell you who the Green Team member is.

So does the Mafia know who each other are?  That is crazy.

Vote Easycure

And I think I know who is the green guy.  If they talk to me...I will not reveal my suspicions, because well, the Green Guy has it hard.

Why don't you change your vote Stevey? Everyone else is voting Easycure and you don't want to stand out as different when EasyCure is revealed as Red Team tomorrow.

How do you know they don't? Is it because you are Red Team and know this for a fact? Me thinks yes.

You know.  The Green Person's Role is still a mystery.  A misunderstanding by 2 separate people resulted in confusion about who green is...and well it is still unknown.

I have no idea who is the Green Guy...I thought I had a good guess, but I was wrong.  I will still keep my spider sense out though.

Khush, your usual strategies won't work this time. There is no acutal mafia this round. Pretending that you're on the blue team just means everyone who actually IS on the red team can target you. With the majority vote, they can just overwhelm the entire game. Just food for thought.

Day One is complete. Easycure is dead dead dead by three votes to two.

Day Two is open.
