Title: RAGE?

RAGE is being published by EA? Odd, considering the long history Id has with Activision. This, coupled with the earlier hints of it being T-rated and simultaneously released on consoles give me serious doubts about just who it is being targeted at. DooM 3 was definitely a misstep for Id, and this just might be the next failure. It'd be a shame really, as the basic design sounds cool enough.

Doom3 (the game and the engine) was a misstep but not a total stumble for ID. Quake4 was handled poorly and I don't think ETQW was marketed properly as well.

If only this were PRIMAL Rage.

And I liked Doom 3.  It was the first FPS since Turok: Rage Wars that I actually enjoyed.

I watched the teaser trailer for this, pretty vague but intriguing. It just gets the feeling that this ground has already been covered by other developers.

Quake IV and Quake Wars wasn't even handled by Id though. They're supposedly shoving the new Wolfenstein off to an outside developer as well (like they did with the last one, in fact!). Quake Wars seemed pretty good for what it was. I've never liked the Battlefield-like games however, not outside of Tribes at least. I'd personally love to see a sequel to the original Quake, in all its Lovecraftian goodness! Now that would have been something that could have benefited from the DooM 3 engine (as Prey already showed it to be capable if coupled with the right game design).

Maybe id doesn't get along with Activision anymore or they don't want to rely on Raven for development.
