Title: FaceBreaker KO Party
Post by: ShyGuy on July 05, 2008, 05:59:03 AM
The first video is up at IGN, it looks more like a 2.5d fighter than a boxing game.

How does it look like 2.5D its genuine 3d, but I agree that it looks like a fighter or a brawler than a boxing game.

Perhaps 2.5d was the wrong word, it seems to have combat on a 2D plane, but the 3D enviroment rotates around to give the illusion that your characters are moving in a 3D space.

Well most 3d fighters have you snapped on a specific axis while you are on a 3d fighting arena. I believe that most boxing games do that as well. Thats because most fighting games are 1 on 1. If its a 3d fighter with more than two characters are present the game has you targeting one character and you get a button to switch to another target like the naruto games for cube and wii. There are some like powerstone where you have complete 3d movement freedom but they have a general lock on mechanism for throwing items if i remember correctly.

Fighting games have really been 2.5D for some time -- 3D gaffix wasted on 2D gameplay.

In terms of fighting axises yes I guess that mechanic was made so people wouldn't wine how much 3D fighting games suck compared to 2D......oh wait.
