Title: I just bought some Wii-colored GC controllers.
Post by: Maverick on May 25, 2008, 03:06:48 PM
Well I found these on Play-Asia. Matches the Wii, made by Nintendo, with an approximately 10ft cord, so maybe they will actually reach my couch now. Anyone else have these?
And please don't tell me that these are available in America for the half the price. :(

I've wanted one of those so bad but I don't feel like paying to import one, especially since I rarely need more than one GC controller and my WaveBird does just fine for that. If only they were wireless, I would have bought 3 of them already.

I was just sick of having to bring in my dining chairs to play Brawl or any GC title. On top of that I wanted controllers that matched the system 'cause I am insanely anal retentive. Ideally I would have wanted wireless regularly shaped (not wavebirds) white GC controllers with rumble, with a direct connection to the Wii without a stupid dongle. I know it's possible, but I imagine Nintendo is focused on a lot more things than appealing to my niche market needs.
This is a good compromise for me, as long as the cords reach fine, that is. I measured before I ordered and it SHOULD, but I'm still kinda worried about it.

If you just wanted longer cords you should have just gotten extension cords for your existing wired Cube controllers, they're cheap and they work really well, I have them for all mine.

Yeah but like I said I wanted white ones to match the Wii, and the cords would have to be white as well. :P
I know I'm crazy.

I don't believe that your lack of sanity was every brought into question.

I've been wanting to break down and buy one of these... But every time I go to PlayAsia and look at it, they taunt me with their Indigo Game Boy Player that's on sale... so I end up adding both to my cart.
Then, I see the total and always back out...

How much is the Purple Indigo Game Boy Player?
EDIT: Oh, 40 dollars. 40 plus the 25 for the controller plus 1 MILLION DOLLARS for shipping, right?

Yup.
PlayAsia really needs a US Shipping center... :(

I wish I would've seen these before I bought 2 used wavebirds online. This would've been a significantly cheaper alternative.

Regularly shaped controllers with wireless and rumble might be possible now, if expensive (not only would they have to pay for the hardware redesign, but there'd be nowhere near as many takers as there were of the original Wavebirds); however, I'm pretty sure that ones without a dongle aren't, because the Wii in GameCube mode turns off the Bluetooth module.

Ah, didn't think about that.
So I re-measured with my new entertainment center and now it's still too far. Anyone want to make me some white GC extension cords? :-[

I'll do it if you send me the materials. I charge $5.00 a piece. And when I say materials I mean the extension cords, I can color them myself.

No my brother in law has this white sticky stuff he uses at work, not sure what it does, but anyways he said it hardens like plastic and would make a good coating for something like that. But when he found out I was gonna use it for a video game related project he changed his mind.
Not really, I wasn't really serious just trying to find a quick way to make a buck.

Et tu, Rat? Even after I found that shitty game for you on Microsoft's Marketplace? :(
Anyways, I got them in the mail today. They barely reach my couch and I have to sit in the far left corner, but it beats having to bring in separate chairs simply for GameCubing.
