Nintendo began distribution of these pins in April 2004 and completed distribution this past November 2007. But it was not until now that Nintendo realized that the pins, which they purchased from an outside supplier, contained lead exceeding the levels permitted by US regulations.
If you have purchased or obtained any of these pins, Nintendo is offering to replace them free of charge. Pin owners can reach Nintendo toll-free at 1-800-431-0971 to arrange replacement of any pins containing the lead paint.
Any chance they were made in China?
