Hate to be a downer, but anyone could've made that logo.
In any case, I'd be surprised if F-Zero ended up being the big holiday title Reggie teased a few weeks back. It's not that big and Nintendo could use a better and bigger holiday title, unless somehow third parties are stepping up to the plate which probably won't happen.... at least not in any meaningful way in 2008.
On a sidenote, by next year, if big 3rd parties games don't start popping up, it'll probably be safe to say that they aren't ever and we can no longer chalk it up to publishers underestimating the Wii.

FZero Z would have to be the final FZero, right? nothing comes after Z

That F-ZERO came right off the box of another F-ZERO game. The Z would be easy to create.

F-Zero GT
Captain Falcon will be turned into a kid and the game will be just horrible on every level. Well except for the music, the music will be amazing.
But other then the music, the rest of the game will be horrible.
Hahahahahahahahahaha....... well played, Luigi Dude. :D

I don't get it. I mean, yeah, sure, it's a reference to another game but I have no idea which.
EDIT: Ah, okay, Dragonballs. Nothing I ever watched.

Well, you're better off. I never finished the series (who has the patience for all those filler episodes?), but I watched enough... unfortunately.
Anyway, has anyone heard confirmation that this is fake? I do wonder what Nintendo will call the next F-Zero. They got themselves into this mess when they refused to number their sequels. Come to think of it, Nintendo themselves tend to not use numbered sequels. I wonder why that is. Maybe they're trying to avoid confusion since series like Street Fighter (4 takes place between 2 and 3), Metal Gear Solid (3 takes place before everything), and Devil May Cry (3 is 1st then 1 then 4 then 2) completely crap on the presumed relationship between numbered installment and order of events. Imagine how much more confusing the Zelda timeline would be if Nintendo had numbered past 2. Not that any of this really matters. I was just wondering.....

I think they avoid numbers so people don't see how many games are in each franchise and to prevent the perception of lower numbers being obsolete.

Well what about Mario Party, they have enough of those now to use EA system, Mario Party 2009, MP 2010, etc. Be thankful they don't do that.

That's because the Mario Party series has always been an outsourced series that was never in house. The whole point of the Mario Party series is Nintendo's way of printing extra cash that can be used on more important things. Since Hudson has been a crappy company for the last 10 years, they have nothing else to do then make Mario Party's each year, which is only making Nintendo cheap and easy money.
But since games like F-Zero started out as in house projects, Nintendo still holds respect for these series. Something they don't for Mario Party.

Is that how you explain Metroid Prime? Or Pikmin?

Metroid Prime is a self-contained trilogy in the Metroid universe - Nintendo and Retro have said so themselves. And Pikmin 2 is the direct sequel to the original, so it made sense to number it.

I was just amusing myself with a pointless observation. I'm sure there are exceptions (i.e. Pikmin, Mother), but I did say that Nintendo tends not to use numbered sequels. Most of their sequels are given a subtitle instead of a number.

I noticed that was true for the big stuff but that wasn't always the case and there are still series here and there that have numbers. I'm not trying to start an argument I'm just keeping you on your toes.
Since I haven't played ANY of the F-Zero games I had nothing on topic to say. I did really like Dragon Ball Z but couldn't get into GT.

Leave this thread and don't come back until you have played a F-Zero game.

Well incase anyone was still in doubt, the German site that first posted it clarified that they were joking.

Microsoft stopped numbering Windows because it found that people felt better with using abbreviations. Like you'll never really here OSX be called OS 10.5 unless someone needs to get specific. Its marketing and its easier for people to remember.
