Title: Spectator Experiences
Post by: Shecky on March 25, 2008, 09:21:26 PM
Is it just me or is spectators completely worthless.  90% of the time you don't see matches... more of "taunters" or "runners".  One match was just 100% taunts, untill time ran out and sudden death was determined by the bob-ombs.  Lame.  I just don't understand the point.  Who's going online to waist their time taunting for 2 mins straight?

Really? the ones I've seen were all real matches without any lag and pretty good fights (except for that fact I bet 100 coins and a newbie who got raped online gah who actually want to play as fox and on final destination unless their a tourneyfag Gah! :'( my coins....)

Ahahaha, I watched a friend go onto the Spectator mode with his own copy of the game, and in his first bet he put a hundred coins on King Dedede...

The match started and...King Dedede didn't move...at all...

Everyone else played through, but the guy playing as King Dedede was a.f.k. or something, and didn't start playing until towards the end of the round...It was thoroughly amusing... ='D

When I can actually brawl random people, it's usually a straight up match, haven't run into any of these clowns that mess around.

Most of the lag free random matches I played though - the people weren't that good (if they were still people).

I really love Spectator mode  I have played it for like 35 minutes just betting away trying to predict good players from bad, by who they choose.

It is fun.

Just to reiterate, when you are spectating you are actually DOWNLOADING A REPLAY of a match.  You are NOT watching one in real time.  Of course there won't be any lag.

Spectator mode is the hidden gem in this game.  Note to future developers: gambling is ALWAYS a win.

hmmm, me wonders could the spectators mode actually be contributing to the lag? Think of how much data has to be stored on nintendo's servers just to be passed on, sounds like it could tie up the bandwidth, not to mention spectators mode works right away and online doesn't.

As far as online goes, i wonder how easy it would be to make a virtual console patch, say you download it and as long as you have real the disk then you just load it up under the channel screen and it has online improvements and maybe extra characters. This lag is ridiculous. StarCraft with battle net came out in 1998 frickin 10 years ago. Smash Bros online service is GREATLY INFERIOR to a 10 year old product.

I got most of my 9000 coins from gambling on this, quite fun
