Title: Brawl Kodak(tm) Moments
Post by: Shecky on March 20, 2008, 12:26:41 AM
Ok, for all of those matches when something rather unique happened, often times to the demise of your opponents... describe it here.

For instance, when I used young link to arrow a smash ball and then nailed the remaining two opponents (vudu and SB?) in a stock match.

Or DK bongo final smash to prevent other from seeking shelter in the tube on Norfair.

Or completely not knowing how to play as Mr Game and Watch, but getting lucky no 9's left and right.

Or Vudu for not knowing the golden rule of if you win you shouldn't switch your character.... when he was complaining that I had young link for only the third match in a row...

Yeah, poor Vudu got caught in that, even though I was the target.

Playing on random character makes it more interesting.

SB shields way too much :(

Real men take punches to the face without flinching!

Oh, I DO have one: when I used Mario (random) and Up+Bed right into four bombs which had been dropped by a party ball for my final death.

Someone MUST have seen that and laughed like hell...

We had 4 players going most of the night and the last wasn't that bad on my end. How was it for everyone else?

I know I sure did.  :D  I think that was the only match where you died first.

The lag generally wasn't bad at all.  During character entrances the game would slow down a lot, but after the clock started ticking it was generally smooth.  Except for the first match where I was playing as Lucas.  I don't know if you noticed, but I fell to my death twice during that game because I couldn't properly aim my PK Thunder.

Or Vudu for not knowing the golden rule of if you win you shouldn't switch your character.... when he was complaining that I had young link for only the third match in a row...

This is the first time I've ever heard of this rule.  (I think you're making it up.)  As my taunt says Real men use RANDOM.  However, random was acting really screwy for me last night.  Out of the fifteen or so matches me played, I got stuck with Marth twice in a row, and a played two matches each with Lucas, DeDeDe and Meta Knight.

Did anyone else audibly laugh when SB was playing as Wolf?

Yeah, Ness and Lucas suffer horribly from lag because one of their recoveries is basically gone, but I'm glad to hear the lag was tolerable for people. I think it was Shecky, Steve, you and myself and our connection seemed decent. We NEED to do that again. I'd forgotten how much I miss having four good opponents where anyone can win and I REALLY need to be playing at my peak to survive (I admit I sandbag with lesser players sometimes, as it's the only way I could keep people playing Melee with me).

I just need Stevey's AIM and I'll have everyone from that match so we can set it up again.

As for Wolf, my "Yiff Yiff!" taunt suddenly made a lot more sense when the randomizer picked him for me. ;)

Damn, I need the taunt "FURRIES FROM SPAAAAAAACCCCCCEEE!".

That was hilarious, some day I'm going to make a youtube video out of all the best replays

the rule at my house is that if you win, you're only allowed to use your character twice in a row. This has since morphed into the ultimate rule: play random EVERYTHING. those who only play 5, or even 10 characters can just suck nuts.

Yeah, there were plenty of times I laughed during our matches... and that was one of them :)

Well, clearly different rules ... different people.  Actually this rule is a bit more complicated than I've stated.  If you win your supposed to keep playing the same character to allow the other plays a sense of "revenge" if you will.  At _least_ for one more match.  So that they can have a shot at besting you with the player you just beat them with.  We used that rule in most fighters ... Street Fighter, Soul Calibur, etc.  (all 1 vs 1 game granted)

Now this was usually part of a rotation too.  So the winner could only win X matches or once through the rotation before they had to give it up regardless.  Like I said, the general idea was that you at _least_ had to play one more match with the character you just won with.  I don't think I'd stick with the same character more than 3 times in a row for Brawl and never did last time we played.

I'm trying desperately to main Bowser but I'm kinda giving up hope at the same time.

I have a tourney coming up and I want to pick a main, and while I love Bowser and want to see him in the limelight, I'm afraid that I'm going to just get stomped with him.

I've been playing some more and I've changed my mind: I've spent most of the night using Bowser to destroy a pretty solid Fox/Falco player. Bowser has the BEST edge guard, and leaping upon people with the torrent of flre is key to racking up the damage on an opponent.

So, do you spam Bowser's fire breath when edge guarding?

Yeah, it's an AWESOME edgeguard. If you know you're not going to be able to jump after them and finish them, flamethrower the edge and you can run them up to ridiculous numbers if they don't have the type of recovery that can get them around the flames.

Getting reamed by a beam sword 7 times in a row against the pillar in the shadow moses level.

Making it look like I was going to leave GP alone as she edge guarded a foe... only to change my mind and knock her clear off the stage :p

Bah, didn't know you could save replays for online matches... I would have saved the one where I got pounded by a beam sword repeatedly

Oh well, now I know.

Ahaha, that vid's great:D

I've saved a couple of mine... but sometimes it doesn't give me the option to save, and I can't figure out why...
