Game Xplain offers downloadable videos containing valuable game strategies, providing an alternative to print guides and GameFAQs.

DOWNLOADABLE VIDEOS TO ENHANCE GAME GUIDE INDUSTRY

Seattle, Washington, 28 February, 2005 - Game Xplain has announced the launch of a new series of low cost, downloadable, game guide videos. These videos demonstrate to the viewer, both visually and audibly, strategies for the most popular video games.

Prior to Game Xplain’s launch, gamers typically purchased expensive guides or tried to make sense of complicated FAQs for help. Game Xplain's narrated videos ensure an accurate and entertaining portrayal of strategies that are priced with the average gamer in mind. Beginning at only 65 cents per download, the videos are viewable immediately upon purchase.

"Game Xplain strives to redefine the game guide industry," said Andre Segers, founder of Game Xplain,"…and our latest venture - low cost, downloadable videos to provide the clearest strategies available anywhere - advances this objective."

About Game Xplain

Game Xplain, founded in 2003 by Andre Segers, is the only gaming website solely dedicated to video strategies. Before transitioning to its new downloadable video format, the company produced DVD game guides that Planet GameCube called “a great product with impressive production values.” With its latest venture, Game Xplain is positioning itself to become the number one destination for video game help and strategies.

It was tempting, until I saw this:

"4. What payment methods does Game Xplain accept?
We accept Visa and MasterCard only."

I stay away from Credit like the plague since I've seen it consume so many of my friends. Unless the children get access to their parent's credit cards (Or heaven forbid, they actually tolerate and encourage their gaming habits), its going to alienate quite a few gamers.

What was up with the DVD's? Did they use DVD-R's or something?

I still find GameFAQ's to suit my purposes. Granted, you have to know which author's are good vs the not so good ones, but once you know, its not so bad. In an age where you're punished for downloading stuff for free instead of forking out dough for it, its refreshing that they can't outlaw FAQs.

Perhaps I shouldn't say it, but they might get into trouble by using actual game footage while claiming to be "a 100% independent and unofficial publication."

I seem to remember Imagine Media once put out a "100% unofficial" players guide using artwork and screenshots they had gotten from Nintendo as members of the media, then Nintendo sued them, so DailyRadar.com and Next Gen Magazine and all the other members of the Imagine group held a great big "Nintendo is evil" boycott party, until Imagine's lawyers tapped them on the shoulders and said "Uhh, Nintendo's right here. We're the ones who screwed up."

About your post,  Djunknown, don't you think it would only be a hassle for the company to accept checks and money orders with the delivery times and waiting period to clear a check?  They're not exactly selling a tangible product but computer content that will probably updated very frequently which probably would require multiple payments for their customers.  Personally, I have had a credit card for nearly two years now with no problems whatsoever.  All it takes is some regular budgeting and a little willpower.  Like a driver's license, a credit card is a necessity once you get older, in my opinion, at the very least, for paying bills conveniantly, instantly and automatically and establishing a good credit line for the future.

That said, I have no interest in their service.  Gamefaqs and CTRL+F function is all I need for the time being.
