NYKO ANNOUNCES CORD-FREE WIRELESS ADAPTER FOR WII NUNCHUK

New Adapter Offers Wireless Convenience for Wii Nunchuk Owners

LOS ANGELES - January 29, 2008 - Nyko Technologies®, a premier peripherals manufacturer, today announced that they will release the Cord-Free wireless adapter for the Wii Nunchuk this February.

While the highly anticipated award winning Wireless Nunchuck for Wii is a brand-new standalone product, the Cord-Free wireless adapter for Wii Nunchuk differentiates from its sibling by converting your standard wired Nunchuk into a wireless peripheral. The adapter adds a convenient self-standing sleeve for the wired Nunchuk and a wireless signal dongle to the bottom of your Wii Remote. A small dongle provides lag-free wireless connection between your Wii Remote and Nunchuk and adds up to 15 feet of wireless range. The self-standing Nunchuk sleeve features a convenient compact cord management system keeping the existing Nunchuk cord organized and out of site. The Cord-Free wireless adapter for the Wii Nunchuk runs on two AAA batteries (included) and provides up to 60 hours of continuous gameplay.

"Nyko is dedicated to providing outstanding wireless solutions for Wii gamers," said Chris Arbogast, Marketing Director at Nyko Technologies. "We want to provide multiple options for those looking to untangle their Wii experience."

Nyko's Cord-Free wireless adapter for the Wii Nunchuk will be available at retailers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $19.99.

This is even worse than their wireless Nunchuk.

Also, you misspelled Nunchuk in the headline.

How exactly is this worse than the standalone wireless nunchuk?

The Wireless Nunchuk costs $30.  This costs $20.  Combine that with the price of the actual Nunchuk and you're up to $40.

That works if you're looking to buy a new nunchuk for this purpose, but if you don't need an extra nunchuk this is $10 cheaper with the added benefit of only having to rely on Nyko for the wireless connection and not have to worry about whether they got the accelerometers right.

The product has a way of dealing with the cord. I would have thought you'd have actually read the news article in question if you felt strongly enough about it to needlessly insult me.

Oh that's not so bad.  I bet it provides a better sense of weight balance.

Perfect for dumbell exercises in No More Heroes.

I would never pay 20 bucks for that and it runs on AAA which is a no-no in my book. Plus I wonder who has a wingspan of 15 feet.

I am interested in their third-party Guitar Hero controller however. With the release of the official ones' individual release pushed back to March now, I'm tempted to start looking forward to Nyko's just to spite the pile of incompetence that seems to be Red Octane/Activision.

You can't seriously be willing to buy a Nyko guitar. Activision has its problems but Red Octane makes quality hardware, and nearly everything Nyko makes is horrible.

But when the product isn't available and you want something now, what are you gonna do?  You're not waiting if there's a decent enough alternative.

Why March, wasn't it originally January?  Do they just not give a crap?  This can't be because of the way the guitar works is it?

The Nyko guitar isn't coming until March either.

It seems that Nyko has cornered  the market on Wii accessories.  With the exception of AV cables, all I hear is Nyko this, Nyko that. What did Nyko strike a deal with Nintendo, or is Nyko rolling in the dough so to speak?

Now a wireless classic controller on the other hand, that would be useful, and doable.
