Title: Space Channel 5 is coming to a Wii near you..... soon!!
Post by: BlackNMild2k1 on January 24, 2008, 08:02:06 PM
Looks like another rumor has come true. First NiGHTS then Samba De Amigo and now Space Channel 5?
Sega is also Bringing HotD 2+3 & Sega bass Fishing, but I wouldn't be surprised if several other projects from Sega past were to surface over the next year, such as Jet Set Radio, Panzer Dragoon, Virtua Cop and possibly even some Shenmue(?).

But for those that can read German:
Quote

edit: Is that mentioning music from Michael Jackson? I don't read German, but thats what it looks like.

Leave Shenmoo be.

Jet Grind Radio is made for the Wii.  Using the IR to paint tags, using the motion to pull of tricks and combos in the air, and using motion to smack cops and other people while skating.  I'd absolutely love for a new edition of it to show up.

Panzer Dragoon I'll take.  A remake/re-release of Panzer Dragoon Saga would be perfect.

What about the survival horror game?  I think it's called Deep Fear?  You're underwater in a sinking ship and have to get out of it in time.

The only 2 Sega projects I want on Wii are Panzer Dragoon, and Jet Grind Radio.

YES, PLZ!

I actually just picked up Space Channel 5 Special Edition (includes SC5 1&2) on the PS2 a couple of days ago for a measly $2.96, so I'm set on this series for now, though it would be nice to see it get some new life by coming to the Wii.

I don't know about Space Channel 5. I tried hard to give that game a chance, I'm pretty good at other rythm games such as DDR and Guitar Hero, but I ALWAYS sucked at SC 5 and could never get better. It was real sad at the time.

I've always wanted to play Panzer Dragoon Saga but not for $200.  If they can remake it or port it to the Wii, I'll give it a try.  I'd also like Shining Force III (all three scenarios) as well please.

SP5 never interested me, though I've gotten into rhythm-based games recently and so maybe I'd give it a try.

Wonderful but... what's their source I wonder? I followed the story to the-magicbox.com, but they don't have an actual source, just a snippet in their news digest?

Why bother to bring back dead Dreamcast/Xbox franchises?  They died for a reason -- the market DIDN'T CARE.

Sega should stick to NEW properties, like Mario & Sonic.

"Is that mentioning music from Michael Jackson? I don't read German, but thats what it looks like."

Michael Jackson's likeness is in one of the Space Channel 5 games so it might just be talking about that.

"Why bother to bring back dead Dreamcast/Xbox franchises? They died for a reason -- the market DIDN'T CARE."

Two years ago the market didn't give a sh!t about ANYTHING Nintendo did on consoles and yet now they do.

Personally I think with Sega there's always a "it's Sega" factor involved whenever one of their good games would bomb.  Sega is a screw up.  Only one of their consoles wasn't a commercial flop and even then they tried to kill it with stuff like the 32X.  The company is so imcompetent and I think that poisons all their games.

It's really no different than Nintendo.  They made great games on consoles that no one wanted and pushed them with marketing campaigns that sucked.  Does that mean Pikmin is a flop that will never amount to anything?  Had it been marketed by someone who knows what the hell they're doing or wasn't released on an unpopular console maybe it would have been more successful.  You can be the best team in the league and still never win a championship because your coach is an idiot.  Context can change a game's fortune.  I think if a game is good there's some scenario where it will be successful.

I've always been saying that Sega's franchises are perfect for the Wii.

I'd love a Panzer Dragoon - apparently Orta is really good and it just recently came out.

Apparently Sega is denying that SC5 is coming

A SEGA spokesperson denied the validity of the story, so for the time being it is merely the whisper of a rumour. However, Space Channel 5 on Wii does make a snug fit and if any more concrete details emerge we'll post them here. Or in the words of our babel-fish translation of the German article - as soon as us closer information is present to space Channel 5 for Wii, read their it naturally here.[/l]

So now I'm gonna have to catalog this one in the rumor thread for now, but we all know that Sega would be ignoring their core fans if they didn't make this happen.
I've never played it before, but I remember Sega fans always talking about this game. I even watched the youtube video in its entirety and it was like 6-8 minutes long. I was mesmerized. Rhythm based gaming was made for the Wii, so make it happen Sega.
