Title: What happened to the favicons?
Post by: NWR_insanolord on January 23, 2008, 06:24:22 PM
I use Firefox and I like to keep a lot of tabs open, I use an extension that allows me to minimize my tabs down to just the favicons (that's what Firefox calls them, the little site-specific icons next to the URL), and now the NWR ones are no longer there. Is there any specific reason they're gone?

Netscape is the official browser of NWR now, and will be the only browser that can access it starting in the near future.

Well now you've just invited some browser elitist to give us all the history of Mozilla.

Marc Andreessen helped co-create Mosaic, the first web browser which was created in the early 90s. He went on to create Netscape, a killer app which revolutionized modern communication. Netscape dominated the market through its first three versions but then began to falter in the race against Microsoft's Internet Explorer a free browser fueled by moneyhats. In it's waining years Netscape was purchased by AOL, who treated the browser badly and ran it into the ground. (Expect AOL to destroy itself completely by 2010) Out of the ashes of Netscape's failure came a new open source browser that went by the name Mozilla. Mozilla hit its stride with the release of Firefox a better and more secure web browser that has fought back against impossible odds and taken market share back from IE. Mozilla today is a non-profit foundation that continues to innovate and carry on the legacy started with Mosaic and Netscape, providing a free and open source alternative that is superior to its competitors.
