Title: Christmas Music
Post by: Sister Mary LeFever on December 24, 2007, 04:00:05 AM
I figured I should make a topic on this.

Well, it is already Christmas Eve, and there are roughly three stations playing Christmas music in my area. I love a lot of the stuff they play. Especially anything by Nat King Cole. When I was growing up, at any Christmas party my parents would always play one of his Christmas albums, and just loop it. Normally I would get tired of music when played repeatedly, but I still love it to this day. You should already know he's one of the greatest singers of all time. Also, The Trans-Siberian Orchestra is good for a change of pace.

And then there is the crap. Like a dog barking Jingle Bells. Seriously, who in their right mind enjoys that? I just turn the radio off when something idiotic like that starts playing.

I had a great Christmas music experience this year because if did not once have to hear/listen to "Christmas Eve in Washington" by Maura Sullivan.  I hate that song with a passion that just can't be described in words, so the first Christmas in a long time without it was perfect for me.

My family has sorta made it a tradition the past couple years to prepare a song for the holidays to sing at family get-togethers/new years. Last year we did Salve Regina from Sister Act (the movie with Whoopie Goldberg), and this year we're going to do a song my parents found on one of their CD's "The man with the bag." *shrug* We're nowhere near pros, I don't think anyone of us has even been in a choir. But it's fun.
