Who cares about Greenpeace?
EDIT: Went and read their report, they have NO INFORMATION, so they give them a zero. That's retarded.

Sony, meanwhile, scored 7.3 out of 10, winning praise for its chemical management and e-waste efforts after it reportedly recovered 36,000 tons of unwanted products from its customers.
I'm not sure about the weights, how many PS3s is that, 2?

Quote Sony, meanwhile, scored 7.3 out of 10, winning praise for its chemical management and e-waste efforts after it reportedly recovered 36,000 tons of unwanted products from its customers.
So, Sony gets kudos for making crappy products which customers send back to them and this is considered recycling or something?
At least Nintendo makes quality products which don't break down and have to be recovered from customers. And also, they deserve credit for creating a game where Mario cleans up oil spills, as well as a game where Luigi cleans up haunted mansions with a vacuum. This helps promote environmentalism. Are there any Sony games which do this?

All of those reports are based off what is found publicly on the respective companies websites. No info = No score
If they had bothered to do some actual fact checking and contact each company, this report might actually mean something.

I figure Greenpeace would have more of a beef with logging companies or something. To be fair though Nintendo's consoles will probably still work in 10000 years which I can see an environmentalist having a problem with.
Greenpeace is funny because every second album I own has the band thanking them in the liner notes and yet every time I see them depicted on TV they're portrayed as complete nutters and I've never met a person in real life who said anything good about them.

Ian's a hippy confirmed.
Seriously though, that's a pretty god awful article. Like BnM said, do some damn investigatory research.

Isn't every other musician a complete nutter, too, though?

*goes searching for story*
EDIT: Found!
Quote What does Nintendo do to help protect the environment?
Nintendo is very concerned with doing our part to help preserve the environment. We're always researching new products and procedures to make our products and operations as environmental-friendly as possible.
Some things Nintendo is already doing:
In our offices: * We recycle the paper we use company-wide. * We limit our use of colored paper, since it's not easily recycled. * We purchase recycled paper towels, report covers, message pads, and writing pads. * We currently recycle more than 70% of the waste that is generated at our headquarters. * We actively promote the recycling of aluminum cans and glass in our corporate cafeterias.
In our products: * We use at least 80% recycled paper in all of our shipping packaging. * We no longer use Styrofoam in our game pak or Game Boy packaging. * All of our instruction manuals are printed on recycled paper. * We no longer use plastic Game Pak covers. * Our clamshell packaging is recyclable and most recycling centers accept it. * We require that manufacturers not use any banned substances (such as lead, mercury, etc.) in components, nor use them in the manufacturing process for any components used inside of our products. This requirement also extends to suppliers of packaging, marketing materials, and other items used in the marketing and distribution of our products.

This is the same thing that they did with the iPhone. Find a popular company, and paint them bad to get publicity for the overall environmental disaster that is mass produced electronics.
Is Nintento evil ,probably not; but they can and should make efforts to be greener. But dont worry to much about this all.

Oh yeah, lovely. Who doesn't want a portable system's games to lie around without any cover. Well, at least with the DS you can now have a cover that's 10x the size of the cart...

I always wished they put DS games in Smaller packaging... but that would make it harder on retailers and they would have to put them in the hanging pack which just countered all the gains from the smaller pack.

Greenpeace, you have a tech named after you in Chrono Trigger.
That is as close to gaming as you ever need to get.

The story on Yahoo (or wherever it was) said Greenpeace plans to add power usage to their evaluations; that'd probably balance the scales in the Wii's favor compared to the other HD power hogs.

Sony's PS3 helps purify the environment by pulling dust and other toxins out of the air like a magnet. It also cuts back on energy consumption by not being used...
