Title: For Infernal AKA Interplay Restarting Dev Studio
Post by: Shift Key on November 15, 2007, 12:22:07 AM
Quote Among the projects Interplay has said it wants to develop are sequels to Earthworm Jim, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Descent, and MDK, provided it can find the financing.
The real question here is: "Where are the VC EWJ games?" Of course this all depends on Interplay getting funding (they were close to bankruptcy but seem to be alive today in some form) but if you want to satisfy the fans then a walk down Nostalgia Lane is the easy way to do that.

EWJ and MDK were Shiny, Descent was Parallax (now split into Volition and... uh.... can't remember but I doubt the other half is still around) and at least the original BG was Bioware. AFAIK all of these have gone down the crapper.
Also, needs moar Freespace 3!

I was almost certain that Interplay had no developers left after Herve Caen refused to pay them. Frankly, I would sooner expect Nintendo to produce "Grand Theft Mario" than Interplay actually produce anything at all. It is a lifeless husk now, and all Caen seems able to do is drain money from investors. I mourn the passing of the days when Tim Cain's vision led interplay...
Considering that, I feel the only chance we have of getting Earth Worm Jim on the VC would be if someone else took the rights.
