Technically isn't NES considered THIRD generation gaming?

I think first generation started with kicking a can and stabbing people with sticks.  The next one involved pop guns and items made for play.  Then came the board games, then midway games, then pinball (but more like Pachinko) games, then game the pinball we're familiar with now, then came Ralph Baer's video game machine, then came all those atari 2600-level systems, then the 5200 level systems, then the NES (and 7200.)

So that makes the NES realistically a part of 10th generation gaming, if you don't include foreplay.
